What kind of movies work these days?

Based on current trends it would seem that action movies are the current favourite.
Big stars?

What about average performers directors etc where do they stand ? How do they survive in this industry? They don’t draw enough in BO although storyline and or performances are notable.

Should everyone retire and let the only the big stars rule?
I wonder?

Nobody knows. Just throw whatever you can out there until something sticks. Lord knows Akshay tries to pull this trick every three weeks.

Theater going seems like a social activity right now. So either movies that have the scale of an event or just marketed successfully in a way that feels like a community event.

I was telling my sister when she came over. They put Khufiya type movies on streaming and in cinemas they’ll bring Pathan or Rocky/rani

Idk much about actual figures but on streaming platforms lower budget can recover costs with perhaps modest profit but big budget probably need cinema release.

Idk the actual figures, what % of households subscribe to streaming in India. Let’s say you have a movie with a msg you want to reach out to as many people as possible which would work better streaming vs cinemas?

Unfortunately people don’t generally go to cinemas to watch serious movies hence the low collections.
we have big tvs with good sound systems these days. I would rather watch at home on streaming at the time that suits me. I personally watch on streaming apps.
