Because ODI's are becoming more and more like long T20's these days, there's a significant overlap between the two sets of players, especially in the middle order (where high strike rate plays a role) and in the bowling (because the ability to restrict runs at the end stage is vital in both formats)

The last T20 WC was played in Australia though (conditions slightly more suited to pacers) while this one is India (which, going by history, is generally supposed to aid spin more)

Kinda agree on the luck part. Knowledge does help though, but luck's equally important. smiley1

In these predictions, more often than not, the winner of most runs/most fours/most sixes/MOTM will be the same player.

You could spread out those predictions over several players in one match (increasing probability to pick up some points in every game), or use one player in all these categories for some matches. Going by the law of averages, great players will almost certainly come good in one game, and that's when the predictor can hit the jackpot.

In the only prediction game here that I played (the original IPL one during covid which I won), I used strategy 1 originally- found it didn't help much, and then switched to 2, which came good in a couple of key games.

The other reason I've stopped participating in contests like these is that it sometimes takes the joy out of watching the actual game. As a pretty passionate cricket fan, I often support the underdog- for example I'll support the Netherlands when they play England or Australia at this WC.

In the prediction game though, you've got to go with your head (Eng/Aus) because the Netherlands will not win 99 times out of 100.

Then when you watch the game, your predictions are at the back of your mind, and it creates a weird quandry- you'd like to support the Dutch, but then have to support Eng/Aus players for the sake of your prediction smiley4

One more question can be added: will it rain on match day?

The main reasons i don't join fantasy contests. You are not able to enjoy much and these things are always at the back of the mind. And you know its more luck than anything so there are actual chances of loss if you play the paid ones.

Also the one game where we had to actually write players name actually worked better because it rewarded knowledge (like there are so many games on IF where Bollywood knowledge or itv knowledge or foreign show knowledge or creative skills helps those who know it better, Heck even sheep games reward the people who have a basic idea of which is popular and what can happen ). Mostly people who knew and followed cricket were always on top. For most part it was sunshine and then me. But this is pure luck where you pick a player out of all other given options. Someone can code a bot to pick random players and that would beat few human because its just a choose one.

Members are invited to predict or guess the potential outcome of that particular match. It is only for fun, watching the matches and predicting the outcome. The administrator gave the members an excellent opportunity because they asked for it and they enjoy playing. Let's take delight in this opportunity with all our amiable members for a month and a half. smiley4

Join the group and be with us for these fun-filled 46 days.

Lectures wont change the fact that its a totally luck based game. The one you conducted actually rewarded knowledge because you had to write players name and not everyone knew every player name. :)

This game would have worked too if there was actually option to write names instead just pick one of all.

Now me joining depends upon i get time or not or my brain considers this imp or not. smiley36 And since most matches start in morning or afternoon most likely i may miss it since work.

P.S. Like Aekiel said, Passionate fan dont just watch as a neutral. :)
