Unfortunately I don’t have enough evidence to prove otherwise but except Vanga the rest of them have good track record of making balanced films otherwise. For ex, Sukumar is an exceptional director with various kinds of movies with Pushpa being his weakest film.

AFAIK, the 2 are unrelated. However, Jeethu J is directing Basil J soon in an entertainer with the tag line Liars' Day Out. Sounds like fun.
