Yup, I believe during old times and in some villages, doctors could tell that a woman is expecting by checking her pulse, I have seen a similar scene in some daily soap as wellOriginally posted by: Clochette
That was 1986...in a prison...if she had fainted because of fear, the pulse would have been perceptly accelerated which it obviously wasn't (the heart is beating faster because of the reaction to more adrenaline)... a woman fainting in the beginning of the pregnancy is a rather common stress-symptom (less blood reaching the brain but no accelerated pulse).
So, yes, it was an understandable diagnosis.
