It sometimes isn't as simple as that. smiley1

Bharat has an aspirated sound (the BH part), which makes it difficult for westerners- they struggle with that part. It's easier for native Hindi speakers.

It's also the reason you'll see many western folks misspell Gandhi.

Not every one in Bharat itself speaks Hindi or calls India Bharat. Let's take the Mizo name for India or the Munda term for India and make it the official name of our republic.

If we can learn the colonisers' language and call our own country "India", they can learn Mizo or Munda, or Ho, or Dogri.

It'd cost the taxpayers the same amount of money, anyway.

Yeah i know that.. but before India was named by Britishers it was Bhaarat.. original name of our country.. its not some new name being given

Our constitution has “ Bharat ka samvidhaan “ Then why is it “Constitution of India” n not “constitution of Bharat “ in English , it was wrong name used right at the time of declaring the republic .

This has been overlooked at the time of independence itself .

Like Bengal was partitioned into East Bengal and West Bengal .

East Bengal has long since named their mother lad as Bangladesh . Why is the West portion stuck being west ?

Why can’t be be just Bangla ?
Mamata didi better address this issue . Now is the time .

Mamta Didi won't do

She is more interested in destroying a beautiful Bengal and making it another Bangladesh.

Mizo or Munda or Axomiya people existed before the Britishers came tho, their languages existed before English was introduced in Bharat in the 1600s. Therefore, I say let's make the Munda or Mizo term for India the official name of our republic.

Surely the colonisers can learn to say Mizo or Munda phonetics like we learned their language!

Also, while we are at it, words like हफ्ता should be stricken from the Hindi language and officially replaced with सप्त:.

It is the result of the same westernised sound change that led to Vedic Sanskrit सिंध —> हिंद —> Indica in Indo-Bactrian Greek. Tbh, the blame lies with Ashoka for having such a vast empire that streched from Greek speaking areas as well as Magadhiya Prakrit speaking tracts. If only he hadn't comissioned his Edicts in Greek as well as regional dialects of Prakrit, we wouldn't have this western imposition.

Dude could have just comissioned his Edicts in Sanskrit and we wouldn't have had this problem 2500 years later.

Also, Also, Also, Hindi lexicon should also be freed of the grammatically atrocious मेरे को in lieu of मुझे that is again influenced by Punjabi idioms. I mean, only if the Britishers hadn't messed around with our linguistic maps, मुझे wouldn't be dying such a sad death.

People should also be taught to pronounce the ण in विष्णु: and कृष्ण: instead of replacing it with a न। Bengalis, Axomiyas, and Oriyas should be taught to say श ष स instead of colapsing them into श/x/स. Sanskrit is deva's language and shouldn't be mispronounced.

Hindi is such a poetic language that I will be happy if the taxes I pay also goes into its conservation while also being spent on changing the official name of our 76 year-old republic.

I love the word Bharat but am afraid of losing the legacy associated with India

Indian Ocean

Indian Independence Act

Indo European group

Indic civilization

We are the careers of these. I will love if they increase the usage of Bharat, but removing India will disastrous

I loved the name Bharat but I don't think it would be a practical decision

I don't think India would be removed completely.

But Bharat will be given importance over India.

off course it's not practical

Changing a state name, its railway station's name is a whole different thing

but changing the name of an entire nation would bring too many complications.
