I stopped believing in national awards the year Suriya didn't win for Vaaranam Aayiram/Surya S/o Krishnan. It's all shosha with no real substance. Additionally, national awards committee is willfully blind to rest of the regional cinema.

National awards = Bollywood in their eyes.

to be fair I don't think he deserved it for URI and that there were better actors that year. but also these awards are jokes anyway.
