That one time where he pushed Dhruv back in the Maharaj killing episode aside, he's generally been open to hearing from D and not been impulsive. Even in jail, when D-S was accused of running away, he heard Dhruv out with a relatively calm mind.

Maybe it's because deep down he genuinely owes his life to Dhruv.

If this decision was left to Mahavir, he would've commuted the death punishment to permanent banishment from Vallabhgarh and probably sent Dhruv away.
