Rajesh Khanna was an average looking man, but he became extremely popular doing romantic roles. I think the audience associating him with love and romance basically manifested itself into a belief that he was good looking. Same thing happened with SRK in the 90s.

Dharmendra in his youth was a completely different league. None of his children match him. Even his very handsome grandson Aryaman doesn’t IMO. Sunny was very cute in his debut movie. But I think hair loss and weight gain took away that youthful charm too soon. Doesn’t matter because he never lost his screen presence IMO.

I just googled her old movie pictures and I think it’s the hairstyle. After a few movies they gave her this big 80s curls and also dressed her in unflattering outfits. It was the 80s so all of it was probably inevitable 😆.
