Those Sikhs get slammed by traditional and older, orthodox Sikhs.

Mandira Bedi was trashed for her Ik Onkar tattoo at back of her neck.

All Sikh sites and orgs went after her.

Gul Panag was slammed for saying on TV that she is a Sikh but she cuts her hair and thinks cutting her hair does not make her any less of a Sikh.

Diljit Dosanjh got slammed for trimming his beard and wearing a cap in some video online some years ago.

Gulzar gets hate from traditional Sikhs for cutting his hair and shaving his beard. No one accepts him as a Sikh achiever.

Harnaaz Sandhu also got hate from traditional Sikhs for cutting and trimming her hair, not using Kaur in name.

Taapsee Pannu gets trolled all the time for cutting her hair, being in relation with a foreigner, doing films like Manmarziyan which showed Sikhs smoking or have affair. Arjun Kapoor had to fight trolls on Twitter for her after she got threats to beat her up during Manmarziyan controversy.

Late Khushwant Singh used to hate threats and hatemail all the time and had cases against him for writing sardar jokes.

There is always SGPC and others taking offense. You know it.

Endless cases, controversies and online brouhaha over Sikh symbols, tattoos or how Sikhs or their symbols are shown.

I have seen a lot of Hindus of late also take offense at how their symbols are used or shown.

Happens a lot abroad and increasingly in India also, ever since internet came up. All bond over how their faith is represented. Or symbols are used.

Religion is specifically most volatile and people are possessive and particular about how their faith is represented or talked of.

You continue to miss the point. I don’t see all of Punjab collectively boycotting Taapsee, Harnaaz, Gulzar, Mandira Bedi etc. Just a tiny minority losing it. And so long as it continues being the minority, I’ll let the velle log lose their minds over unimportant things. Also a LOT of older gen Sikh men kept small religious tattoos, I see them all the time in Gurudwaras, surprised you don’t know this?

I have posted links of articles slamming Ayushmaan earlier for his so called gender fluid mag cover.

Stop acting like I posted without sources.

Feel free to follow account of Yes We Exist India and see their old posts. Especially on Sushmita Sen playing a trans character.

Anyway here is a link to news report of Sushmita slammed for playing a trans character in her next project

https://tribune.com.pk/story/2380605/not-your-story-to-tell-sushmita-sen-receives-flak-for-playing-trans-activist-in-upcoming-webseries

Here is a discussion on comments of Swaddle about Ranveer and queer culture/genre, some comments are totally critical of him https://www.instagram.com/p/CvWg0NXt9AK/?igshid=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

Stop acting like only you know it all and others are idiots talking without any evidence or making own stories. The patronising tone in most of your posts is nauseating. You could do better with toning down that 'know it all' attitude dripping in most of your posts and style of writing.

Hey OP aren’t you the same person who made a thread whining that queer people re-imagining popular characters as gay was too much for you ? Here now you are trying to speak on behalf of them 🤔

And here are posts from Yes we Exist India slamming Sushmita Sen for her role as trans activist:

Do not think person posts without own sources.

Make some effort to actually search for yourself if that campaign indeed exists or not. I did refer to Yes We Exist India many times.

Also, do NOT try to divert topic now by saying this link is about Sushmita but what about RS. Anything to simply mock someone for starting a topic because you dislike them or their views or posts otherwise.

I see you posted this previously after people asked. I was suggested that you post citations when you open topics or make comments that reflect other people's viewpoints in the first place.

AFAIK this is the first time you are posting about Ranveer specifically. If you posted THIS earlier, I apologize for missing it. Anyway, I was expecting five Reddit threads with gay men complaining about RARKPK. This wasn't what I expected.

I have said this about Swaddle before. I genuinely appreciate some of the content they produce and their willingness to address challenging topics. However, sometimes I think they go too far - often missing a lot of nuance for some bold statement. This article was written by a woman (enby?) and a most agreeing tend to be women. I am not seeing a lot of gay male perspectives. Not that I have a gay male perspective.

I also find it ironic when people criticize Karan Johar's queerness. Yes, I know Karan Johar is a fvcked up personality and is not the be-all and end-all of queerness. But he is Bollywood's biggest queen and as a queer male director (not out) he has the right to represent masculinity and queerness the way he perceives it.

Ranveer's appropriation of queer culture is such a niche sentiment that you're presenting as if it is queer mainstream.

If you got it, flaunt it. I don't have a hot bod, but I have a hot brain.

I do not even watch this man's work as much.

His SLB films are the only ones where I liked his acting. Except Ram Leela.

I am not throwing any fit at all.

Now again personal remarks instead of sticking to topic?

Typical of this forum.

That is how they deviate from topic and finally get threads locked by reporting posts and whining about feeling attacked or offended.

Of course RS can play actual queer character. Provided if it is nuanced and not caricature or stereotype or adds to further hate or bias against them.

However I do understand if someone from queer community will not like a cis het actor doing that role instead of an actual queer actor.

I have no issues if community wants to see their own people doing their type of characters and roles.

Just as demand of people from NE was legit when they wanted someone actually from their region to do their characters and bashed Manisha and PC chosen for Dil se and Mary Kom. As no one from their own region has ever got a chance in mainstream Indian cinema till date except maybe Danny Denzogpa who was mostly reduced to a villain.

Finally the Sikhs you called minority are not entirelt a minority. They are all apex bodies of that community, form bulk of Sikhs in rural areas and preachers, their followers, elders etc. Rather ones having no issues with tattoos or cutting hair are ones in minority and mostly limited to urban or metro areas or foreign countries. Their number is reducing for sure due to rise of modernity and people increasingly less keen to follow what preachers and jathedars say. But they still hold final word in matters of community or religion.

When did I say I represented 'mainstream' queer POV?

Also who decides what is mainstream or not?

You? Who is also dismissing articles, comments and posts by accounts actually run by LGBTQIA folks?

Anyway I realise it was a mistake to debate this topic here because most here are probably cis het themselves and nit sexual minorities. So they do not think it is a big deal at all.

Or think RS, Ayushmaan, Rajkumar, Sushmita, Bhumi, Manoj, Ashutosh et al can dress anyway they want or do any role and it is all good.

This topic was better suited for a forum filled with more of sexual minority communities itself and their perspective.

Discussing it here is like discussing about misogyny and representation of women in a manosphere forum.

Anyway good for you to flaunt your brain. You indeed have great one.

But stop acting like only you have it and no one else does or others post without any citation or source or reference at all.

I knew you would dismiss links once I post them.

Same way as other members dismissed links of pieces I shared in previous pages about criticism Ayushmaan got for his so called gender fluid mag cover.
