Lots and lots of politics involved here. That I am not going to get into. Due to the jhootis and chappals their supporters will give me.

Sanjeev Kumar, as great as he was, was quite limited in his range of genres. He became quite caricaturish in big commercial cinema like Sholay or Trishul. He didn't do much of those thankfully & stuck to small films but that also meant He could never become a big superstar.
Bachchan can & could do it all. Bachchan almost never goes Over the top even in films like Sholay where everyone is. Slight edge to him.
Wasn't Amitabh not most famous for his angry young man roles in his hey day? 🤪

Do you have a point? 🤪🤪🤪
Everybody is famous for something or the other. Dilip Kumar was the tragic hero, Rajesh Khanna the romantic hero, Dharmendra was the action hero.

You are comparing versatility. Sanjeev was famous for all kinds of roles. Koshish he played a deaf and mute man. Naiya Din Naiya Raat he plays nine different roles. His comedy in Angoor, Biwi, Pati patni aur woh. Nishan he played two distinct parts. Khilona he played a mentally challenged character.

A lot of times the villain in his movies was his father or illegitimate father.
Trishul/Laawaris/Sharaabi. They all kind of blend together imho.
Sanjeev saab.
His eyes and control over body language are mind blowing.
He was a highly controlled actor.
Criminally underrated despite his solid acting and bold, daring choices of scripts ahead of their times.
He was a bit flabby and not glam or PR savvy.
Otherwise he would have been biggest star actor around.
I consider him way better than Dilip Kumar, Naseer, Om, Guru Dutt etc also.
sanjeev will trump each n everyone in india IMO
only kamal come close

agreed !
Kamal is also often gimmicky and overactor and too methodical. Sanjeev saab was too natural, effortless and subtle and never relied much on prosthetics, explicit scenes or make up or highly methodical and laborious acting.
Kamal is too full of himself and goes overboard in doing all sorts of roles himself in own productions.
He is self obsessed and lacks natural and unassuming nature of Sanjeev saab.
Sanjeev Kumar was so natural that even his photoshoots look like photo of common man and not an actor of hit films.
That is what sets him apart from usual actors.
