It's their 35th anniversary and Rey is somewhat 30 years old ,that's what he said in previous episodes.

So she took time to accept their relationship, maybe she tried to move on with her husband but couldn't completely forget her lover ....even now she doesn't love him and is only staying with him for society's sake.

He is not like his dad but he is not completely different from him. Some traits are still there. Same with his mom. May not be exact but something's are sure. Like he wanted viks to be happy so he did everything so the marriage can happen smoothly. This is like his dad trying again and again to show KD how much he loves her and wants to make her happy. Delusional but it's his way.
