It's a bad movie. I didn't like it.

I was expecting a fun, summer movie with all the colors and a fun backdrop. But it's too preachy & becomes boring in the second half.

I still don't understand what was the point.

The only positive for me was Margot Robbie looking like an actual Barbie & the Dua Lipa song Dance the night.

SPOLIERS Below

- Barbie realises even though Mattel launched multiple diverse dolls and career women dolls & ladies rule the Barbieland and men (Ken) are the secondary citizen in Barbieland, the real world is still lead by men. So what does she do? She runs back home crying. I don't see any deep effort from her end to actually make a change or even undesrtand? Just like the superficial doll which practices token feminism.

This movie is gonna reinforce the notion among naysayers that feminism means eradicating men and their existence. At least that's what Barbieland projected. It's not men and women co-existing with equal power & rights. It pits men against women and vice versa.

I was expecting more plots in the real world but 80% of the movie takes place in Barbieland. The reason Barbie becomes a human in the end is still unclear to me.

Absolute hotch potch of a screenplay.

Margot is such a hottie.

I knew the movie was gonna be a pile of crap.

What about Cillian? 🥺

Cilian is brilliant, but I loved RDJ the most. Another plus for me was my fav Emily blunt.

This movie isn't all about science behind nuclear power or whatever, it mostly deals with Oppenheimer and his conflict. And does the justice. Nolan knows how to mould his actors and he did.

I still think there was a way forward if they got rid of Zack Snyder and delayed Justice League in the favor of Man of Steel 2 and a solo Batman film. They only started Justice League a month after BvS, and definitely did script rewrites because they canceled part 2. Hindsight 20/20 I guess.

I just hope they don't delay Aquaman any further and put this universe out of its misery. Gunn's Superman needs some distance from it.

No the damage done by BvS was irreversible IMO Audience simply wouldn’t have cared about grumpy Superman and mass muderer Batman. They should have released Snyder’s JL and let it bomb . Then reboot everything after 5 years.

Weaker markets like China and India are also picking up due to WOM. Europe, US and LatAm are absolutely exploding. Barbie is going for 1 billion.

Oppenheimer is also over performing in every market. I suppose it will be a 600Mish showing, which is insane for a 3 hr biopic.

The constraint for both films is supply rather than demand now. 😲

These are the projections for the opening weekend only.

But yes, everyone should be back in schools in India by now.

Plus the rains are unstoppable.

I wanted to watch yesterday but I couldn't get out of the house.

Had the movies released in May, things would've been different. But then its summer in the West now and these days you can't release the same movie months apart like how it used to happen 10 years ago.

I forgot about the monsoon. Makes the back to back smashing of MI7 and Barbenheimer even more ridiculous.

The different day release only happens for Japan now. Barbie has been delayed till the start of summer holidays there. It's the only market without piracy concerns.

The monsoons are crazy man lol, I am so bummed I couldn't go watch Barbie yesterday.

Japan has zero privacy? Well of course they do 😆

Back when the internet wasn't this huge and the Twilight mania was on, I remember everyone in my class (and otherwise too) were waiting for Eclipse's release date. It released exactly a month after the US release date but we had no idea when it would be out until we saw huge banners and the poster in the newspaper. In fact we got Twilight and New Moon in 2009, saath saath mein.

Cut to today when India gets Marvel films released days before the US. 😆
