It's a bad movie. I didn't like it.
I was expecting a fun, summer movie with all the colors and a fun backdrop. But it's too preachy & becomes boring in the second half.
I still don't understand what was the point.
The only positive for me was Margot Robbie looking like an actual Barbie & the Dua Lipa song Dance the night.
SPOLIERS Below
- Barbie realises even though Mattel launched multiple diverse dolls and career women dolls & ladies rule the Barbieland and men (Ken) are the secondary citizen in Barbieland, the real world is still lead by men. So what does she do? She runs back home crying. I don't see any deep effort from her end to actually make a change or even undesrtand? Just like the superficial doll which practices token feminism.
This movie is gonna reinforce the notion among naysayers that feminism means eradicating men and their existence. At least that's what Barbieland projected. It's not men and women co-existing with equal power & rights. It pits men against women and vice versa.
I was expecting more plots in the real world but 80% of the movie takes place in Barbieland. The reason Barbie becomes a human in the end is still unclear to me.
Absolute hotch potch of a screenplay.
