“The endgame is to allow things to drag on until union members start losing their apartments and losing their houses,” a studio executive told Deadline. Acknowledging the cold-as-ice approach, several other sources reiterated the statement. One insider called it “a cruel but necessary evil.”

That’s seriously F’ed up. Hollywood studios make astronomical profits and the executives get richer and richer every year. Meanwhile writers paychecks have remained flat throughout.

Everything else aside, recent American films definitely show that writers' capabilities have long stopped being utilised. I hope this strike brings a reform to the industry! Writers' potential must be utilised correctly.

These days I've lost my taste for both Hollywood and Bollywood and the quality of writing involved and the projects chosen both by the stars and studios are responsible. The 2000s had such beautiful different films. Oceans Eleven, Kingdom of Heaven, Pirates of the Caribbean etc. These days they seem more interested in Marvel movies and propagating pet agendas -racial inclusion, gender politics etc. These need to happen naturally not artificially foisted upon. Especially in historical films.

I love this statement of Spielberg "There's going to be an implosion where three or four, or maybe even a half-dozen mega-budget movies are going to go crashing into the ground, and that's going to change the paradigm"

The greed and ego of the so called Hollywood elitist going to ruin the whole scenario and with DC and Marvel's poor performance proving that saturation has come. Still can't forget that arrogant statement by James Gunn advocating retention of Ezra Miller 😡

It's all posturing. Warner has already started delaying film. Plus they face a significant risk with their debt ratings if the strike continues. I guess they might cave in first.

Could also be a smaller studio. Lionsgate and Paramount can't be sold with a strike going on.
