Will film with female superhero work in India?

India has never really had its own version of Wonder Woman or a female superhero like Shaktimaan or Krissh.

I do not know of many Indian female superheroes in comics or TV shows. Most are either inspired from Ma Durga, Ma Kali such as a Zee TV show named Devi. Or are some fairy like Sonpari or icchadari naagin.

Female supernatural or magical powerful characters are barely there in Indian pop culture.

Recently I read a comment from someone saying female superheroes do not work and have no market or audience or readership.

Is it true?

Do we indeed have no takers for a female superhero in Indian toons, comics, TV or films? Would a Wonder Woman, She Ra, Captain Marvel, Rogue, Storm, Shadow cat, She Hulk Powerpuff Girls etc work in India in a desi adaptation? Or not? What is your take as a viewer?
