For example, if DT was a Ekta production, I would probably watch it for the casting and till the leads fall in love. Anything close to marriage or afterwards one can safely quit. EK does casting well, but her stories are repetitive on other fronts (jail, hospital, kidnapping, courts, MU/separation and leap- you can literally predict the sequence in some cases 😆)

A good ML and plots that resonate more with the urban Indian audience- you're more likely to find these on Sony (and to some extent SAB, who are owned by Sony too) than other channels.

I've seen folks praise Katha Ankahee (on Sony) and Sapnon ki Chaalang (Sony, but ending due to TRP) in recent times. Ishk par Zor Nahin, Story 9 Months Ki (also on Sony) were quite nice too.

The channel plays a massive role. Star are probably the biggest channel, but also the worst in terms of TRP pressure- they want their channel dominating at every slot. And the flawed nature of the TRP system (nobody I know has a TRP meter) means that the readings are horribly skewed- Mumbai for example, has one TRP meter for every 10,000 folks or something, means that plots cater to the lowest common denominator in most cases.

I know exactly what you mean and for that reason I refuse to watch anything from Ekta or Gul. They leave scars on you. I remember watching Naagin 5 before, as Surbhi and Sharad had a mind blowing chemistry compared to that skinny snake and she ruined that show spectacularly. Similarly with Gul who I think has a need to create unnecessary dramas but I guess that's what sells in India.

Before I started watching this show I did read reviews and they were good so I watched couple of episodes and when I saw the ML wasn't shouting, and screaming, and going I hate you it was a win for me. I generally prefer limited series as it keeps the essence going and that is why I reluctantly commit myself to India dramas as there is no end date to them.

Why were you wary here?

@ your Bold - that is good to know, what other shows would you recommend in that case? I am on a summer break so may as well refuel my quota of shows lol.

I agree on TRP as well as overseas there is a very large diaspora of Indian and some Pakistani/Bangladeshi community which regularly watches Indian shows and they are not counted as TRP. Sadly the kitchen politics shows get more traction but I never understood the reason why. I watched couple of episodes of Anupama and thought woman your husband is cheating on you and you went ahead and forgave him, that means I am out.

Another thing is we have access to SonyLiv App which is a good thing. I was into Pakistani shows for a while as they are limited (33 one hour episodes max) and given their industry is so small the casts gets repeated a lot so you do get to see good pairing. But there I have concerns with the societal mindset so that was a no too.

This show is unique in the sense I am watching it with total open mind and it is keeping me entertained. I don't believe in curses so for me the current video of family memory loss is hard to understand, but I am thinking it is super funny. Although, for a series they have done a good job in focusing on the leads, Ekta and Gul do that before marriage with their leads.

When he left with Tara's mom his wife only ran outside the house, why didn't she run more and caught him? it wasn't as if they took a cab they were barely walking in that storm, Sushila could have easily caught them if she wanted. I think she was like good riddance, go now.

Dhruv and Tara are back without him and I don't even know where is he, does anyone else know? I liked how Mahavir said who cares about Ravi anymore, Dhruv is dead lol - that was super funny.

Tara only gives promises and fulfills them when she was in 21st century. There she was miss come near me and die, and here in 17th she just cries. Although, I do understand the constraints she has given she is a princess and parampara and all that crap that goes with it.

It’s fiction so I don’t see getting too involved in it and the forum seems to have similar mindset and fun is most important part of life so why not.

Tara didn’t even take poor Dharmendra I feel so bad for him. He never wanted to come to this century but got here and then even though he was promised he got to stay behind. I know Tara did a lot for Dhruvs family and even went to jail - but laws are better in this century. Even with that I want her to be as madly in love as Dhruv is with her. She loves him no doubt and maybe because he fell first and is very romantic ( who knew) he is more expressive. After his chat with Ayesha I never thought he would be this romantic and intense. Now I understand why Ayesha was after him 😂😂

She still has that 17th century mindset where she blushes over a hand hold. Maybe that is hard to connect given most of us here wouldn’t care about a simple hand holding or kiss on the cheek. It’s norm now but I guess from her pov it’s a big deal - didn’t couple used to have separate bedrooms back then?

Let’s hope we know what’s happening with poor Ravi - he is another one I feel bad for given he has no one. Who knows how Dhruv and Jays relationship would have been had they known they are brothers and not cousins.
