To be honest I don't think Bheeshm was that powerful, like he would be in his 90s then physically weak I doubt he could have made such an attempt.

He could have though made a deal with Pandavas that we together attack Hastinapur, but then if Pandavas get whole of Hastinapur why will they only take Indraprastha

Everyone were supposed to be in their 60's and 70's in the Kurukshetra war...Bhishma was in his 100's i guess...maybe people were more physically stronger and age was litterally just a number to them back then?

These people got married to Draupadi cause Kunti ( accidentally) asked for it , if Bhishma had asked them to let go of Hastinapur they would have...highly unlikely but still would've happened...

I seriously doubt Bheeshm was physically fit, he only did the archery which needs limited power sitting on his chariot. Also oaths back then had huge importance, had he gone against the oath of not claiming the throne, he would have lost public respect.

No marrying Draupadi wasn't because of Kunti's accidental ask, all of them wanted to marry her. Yudhisthir properly puts forward this demand in potter's house to Dhristdhyum.

The thing is she didn't question his right to stake her, she questioned his right to stake her when he was already lost into Dasatva.

That makes it clear a free man has full right to stake his wife at will, only issue here was that Yudhisthir himself was a Dasa so should have had no rights onto her.

Even that logic wasn't supported by anyone except Vikarna

While I don't deny invasions did affect our civilization adversely but we are much better morally than those people
