I'm happy actresses in their 30s are continuing to succeed. It shows that Bollywood has evolved.
But when it comes to promising young faces, there's a huge gap. I think for the first time in decades, BW lacks fresh new debutantes with promise. There's not a single promising young actor/actress on the horizon. Is it only to do with nepotism? I don't think so. There must be some other reason why, but I can't pinpoint it.
What happened to the electric debuts of say a Hrithik Roshan or a Deepika Padukone? When the whole nation went crazy over them? The collective hype, the frenzy, the excitement?
WHERE ARE THE NEW FACES?
If the Archies are an indicator, it's just sad because they lack substance. Not a single one of them stands out.
If this is how things are going to play out, I see Bollywood fizzling out. There's no other option. Ageing Khans cannot keep playing lovers, and Alia Bhatt cannot star in every alternate film.
When will the aging Khans gracefully transition into playing wise mentors, passing on their wisdom to the next generation? Alia Bhatt, with her infectious energy, takes on the role of a producer, nurturing young talents and creating a wave of refreshing stories?
WHEN?
Any answers, folks?
