Long post but needed to write it:
OkâŚI am so late with this, but I finally watched the Nooran SH interview and it made me happy. From my perspective, it absolutely confirmed there was no rape and backed up what I had written in an earlier post here. I wanted to add my views here. Again, apologize for the length.
Nooran said âmaybeâ Geo Wale showed it on their promo, but it was not rape, it was consensual. She confirmed it again when Amna asked specifically. She basically said âit wasnât rape, we showed you what you wanted (we clarified that it wasnât rape by changing the scene with voiceovers), so whatâs the problem now?â HERE IS THE THING: I donât think Nooran really understood the promoâs effect on everyone, and maybe itâs b/c sheâs the writer and she knew for sure it wasnât rape, so she didnât get it. When she saw the promo, she probably wasnât watching it the same way a random audience member is. (As a reminder, many of us also watched the promo and didnât think it was MR.) Iâm pretty sure the changes she was referring to that Geo made were the voiceovers providing clarification (what the audience wanted) that it wasnât MR.
Also, Nooran seems very black and white about thingsâŚnot as deep as some audience members for sure, and maybe even the actors and actresses and director themselves. (Prime example: fans believe Murtasim had a thing for Meerab from the beginning. Nooran, the writer of the story/characters herself said, nope, he didnât like her and he only started falling for her after he started feeling bad for her on the parentâs revelation matter. I personally think Wahaj added nuances that made us feel Murtasim liked her before, not b/c it was written in the script.) So similarly, here, Nooran was basically very black and white about this MR situation. Her stance is, as I wrote above: it wasnât rape, we clarified this for the audience b/c you wanted that, with voiceover explanations, and so now whatâs the issue? And to be completely honest, I kinda agree with her. Even now that she has confirmed it wasnât rape, people still believe it was and are insisting it was. Even thought she said it wasnât. I didnât find her body language to indicate otherwise either. What can she do about it? Nothing. Frankly, itâs not her fault the way the director directed that scene and the way the editors created the misleading promo. AND also, Iâm assuming Yumna has never had sex before (as sheâs very religious) so I also think that she maybe didnât know how to give the most aptly acted reactions in that scene as well. I always thought her acting was off there, whether it was MR or not, and I think she just didnât know how to add that nuance to the predominant guilt reactions she was trying to portray. Also the Wahaj breaking the mirror scenes were just plain dumb and âoverâ in terms of writing and directing.
Also, Nooran was an idiot for posting a story with someoneâs article about it being MR. I assumed that the article was written by taking her comments out of context, and was confused about why she would post it then. (As a lawyer I look for sources and specifics, phrasing, terminologyâŚafter reading those articles they smelled of misconstrued takes and misrepresentations that are often plenty in news articles/outlets and sources like that.) But I suspected she was doing that as part of the suspense/drama promotion aspect, and the âit was needed for the climaxâ wasnât referring to MR, but to the sex and breaking of the contract itself. If you noticed, Nooran does weird things like that. Just a day or two ago, she posted a fan-made drama poster with Yumna, Wahaj and Haya on it, entitled TB season 2. People assumed it was real b/c she was posting it, and others corrected them saying it wasnât, she had just posted someoneâs fake poster. So what it confirmed for me is that Nooran has this weird sense of dry sarcastic humor where she will post stories, not necessarily to confirm/deny something, but to maybe mock it or arouse suspense etc. (Iâm not saying I agree with her about this..but thatâs her marzi and she doesnât seem to care.)
And Nooranâs explanation for why Meerab felt bad and left (she broke her promise to herself, which hurt her pride, and then she had to leave b/c she had previously stated that she would leave if the contract was broken; essentially she was leaving b/c of her ana/ziddh etc.) also confirms for me what I wrote earlier, and why her leaving might make sense from her POV, in a non-MR scenario. (AlthoughâŚI donât like her leaving b/c of this, and didnât find it to be believable and good writing either.)
I am not defending Nooranâs writing in the later episodes, nor her conduct at the time of the whole potential MR promo. But for me, the issue of MR/No MR is done and dusted. Even Amna admitted that she heard from people at the shooting that scenes were reshot, but who were those folks and what specifically was reshot? Itâs not like they were going to actually shoot MR or consensual sex in PTV in the first place, so again, what was reshot? Amna and Hassan didnât talk to the director, producers, or the actors which speaks volumes about authenticity sometimes. People like Amna, Hassan, and several fans just like to proclaim things as definite, without knowing for sure, and I noticed that it tends to sway a lot of fanâs opinions on things.
