Manjari asking her to be removed from her marital home even before she signed anything is an instance of domestic violence. She, as per Hindu Marriage Act, had property rights in the Birla Household; she cannot be asked to get out of there. I don't remember Raja beta protecting his wife from his mother's abuse. He, in fact, enabled it.

Like a man cannot be forced to be in an unwanted marriage, a woman cannot be unduly forced to sign divorce papers. The divorce becomes contested when one party wants it and the other party doesn't.

By your own statement :

He said he wanted her to sign divorce papers and leave.

Where is the room for her free will and consent here lol?

If Akshara had refused would "iski shakal nahi dekhni mujhe, iski vajah se saari mautein huyi hain, isse kaho yahan se jaane ke liye" wali good sasu and her raja beta let her live in peace?

Btw, accusing a spouse/DIL of baseless murder, showing agression and threatening them with economic retribution (like kicking someone out of a home) falls under DV act of 2005.

These are the literal defintions and clauses

  1. harms or injures or endangers the health, safety, life, limb or well-being, whether mental or physical, of the aggrieved person or tends to do so and includes causing physical abuse, sexual abuse, verbal and emotional abuse and economic abuse; or
  2. harasses, harms, injures or endangers the aggrieved person to coerce her or any other person related to her to meet any unlawful demand for any dowry or other property or valuable security; or
  3. has the effect of threatening the aggrieved person or any person related to her by any conduct mentioned in clause (a) or clause (b); or
  4. otherwise injures or causes harm, whether physical or mental, to the aggrieved person."

Just because people don't file cases against their family members doesn't mean domestic violence ceases to exist.

I agree that 4th point can be used if it is used as a case for domestic violence as defined here. But I would still wait for Abhimanyu’s POV regarding that day - what was his mental and emotional state to decide how I feel about this in regards to him.

Abhi didn't force Akshara to sign the divorce papers. She signed it. It was her choice.

And what Manjari said was out of anger and it was momentary as even she was grieving.

As someone had shared in the forum earlier, false diagnosis do happen and it's not a crime!!! The doctor didn't declare miscarriage for fun🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

And not writing the father's name on BC is completely justified. But while the bio was alive and was not aware of the pregnancy, forging the name on BC, without bio father consent and adoption is an offence.

Lastly, it was clearly mentioned in one of the episode that they got married for abhir, so it was definitely after his birth. Their marriage certificate will be a proof of this.

@bold Nobody ever force anyone to sign divorce papers. Nobody get their partner sign divorce papers at gunpoint, by physical force or threatening unless the person has mental illness or criminal record. Abhimanyu initiated divorce against her will. It wasn't a decision of mutual consent. After emotionally abusing her calling murderer, mourning or not. He emotionally and psychologically abused a woman who miscarried her children.

"Emotional abuse involves controlling another person by using emotions to criticize, embarrass, shame, blame, or otherwise manipulate them"

Psychological abuse, often called emotional abuse, is a form of abuse characterized by a person subjecting or exposing another person to a behavior that may result in psychological trauma, including anxiety, chronic depression, or post-traumatic stress disorder.

Should she beg for devta Abhimanyu's forgiveness who was mourning & stayed at the house where her husband & MIL hated her "momentarily" if asking her to sign divorce papers in her lowest possible state, considering her murderer isn't hatred than don't know what is. If that emotional and mental/psychological abuse was mere emotional outburst of fictional characters than I wish nobody ever face that emotional outburst in their real lives.

Manjari said u are responsible for 9 deaths momentarily out of anger? Would she let Akshara live in that house after that momentary anger without blaming or guilt tripping her?

Society is refection of ppl's thinking. Extremely toxic fictional characters like Abhimanyu Birla and Manjiri Birla are glorified that's why there 53% cases of psychological violence alone in India.

No one’s denying that what Abhimanyu and Manjiri did that day wasn’t traumatizing for Akshara. And most people agreed that whatever he lost was because of his own shortcomings and inability to empathize with his wife who was in physical stress along with the emotional loss and trauma which everyone including her in the family felt - and she wasn’t allowed to share her or their pain.

And Abhimanyu has to grow and realize the mistakes of his past if hasn’t already and work on his redemption.

But still we should avoid attaching good and evil as adjectives to people but rather use them for their actions. Abhimanyu made a huge blunder that day - his behavior then towards Akshara then could be evil or abusive. Fine.

But he has done a lot of kind things too and at times cared selflessly for people around him. What I have learned from life is that its too short to hold grudges. Its okay to move on from people who you find are inclined to repeat their mistakes. But if someone is trying to be a better version of themselves- I feel it should be encouraged- and its okay for anyone who has been hurt by them to not want them in their lives and keep distance - its their personal choice. Even the people with best of intentions make mistakes(that can’t be recovered from).

Punishment is not given to criminals or offenders to please the victims or give them revenge - its done to reform them before letting them out into society again so they don’t repeat their wrongs. If we become unkind to someone who is trying to improve - they may never want to get better - they could feel they can only be happy by continuing to do bad stuff.

I would have wanted Abhimanyu to have a harsh punishment if I didn’t find any kindness in him or any repentance for his actions- which he does have in abundance. So no I do not find him toxic or abusive.

Even our law takes “intentions” into consideration when giving judgement. And Abhimanyu hasn’t intentionally hurt anyone. You may probably disagree but this is my opinion!
