It is Kanta that slaps Maaya. Don’t think Maaya tries to save Anupamaa, saw a snippet with Maaya at the wheel trying to run Anupamaa over.

Also I don’t blame Maaya for her idiotic and delusional behavior altogether. Anuj did give Maaya cause to believe he was over Anupama. Samar’s wedding Anuj performed the rites with this wacko woman giving her all the rights of a wife. He did desert Anupamaa and go after little Anu and tolerated Maaya’s presence, and again returned to Maaya when he was supposedly on his way to reunite with Anupamaa.

Heaven save every woman like Anupamaa from this kind of love, and heaven give sense to every woman like Anupamaa to not go back to such a love. This is no Amar Prem Kahani but the tale of three people with OCD and an inability to let go of what is not good for them.
