NM said she was writing even while shooting was going on towards the end. This is what makes me think they asked her to write more because they saw that it was becoming a hit. She took 4 years to write the first 20-24 episodes and a few months to write the rest which is why it is so shoddy.
I think Yumna read the initial script and okayed and then didn’t have a choice when they decided to extend. Also did PH tell the writer they wanted certain things in the story for hooks and cliffhangers.

1) the original script which was for 28 episodes.. that was written well.. so till about 22-25 episodes were amazing

2) while shooting the above, TB became a hit so they extended it with poorly written and executed maryiam track and separation track. I think they were aiming for something between 40-45 episodes.. ratings did not fall

3) so kaddu uncle got super greedy and decided to further drag and extend by using flashbacks, slomo etc stretching the episodes to 58.

No way they have shot material for 60 episodes. Plus the 2) extension meant more shooting which yumhaj didn't have dates for bec of other projects... so you have focus on side characters like haya and just few scenes of main actors

Had this been the original 28 episodes drama, i would have recommended it to everyone. It was so so entertaining

If you see Asim's IV, he said each written episode was equal to 1.5-2 episodes worth of filmed content. Nooran herself said in her IV that her written episodes were 60-70 pages long - which is too long to fit into one filmed episode.

Based on the 28 written episodes, Siraj shot and delivered a serial with 48 filmed episodes.

It was 7th sky and GEO that stretched the original 48 episodes to 58 episodes. After the re-editing for the 4 episodes per week run, even the director did not know anymore how many episodes in the end,

Up until mid-Ramadan, the episodes were fast-paced.

The dragging (via slo-mos, FBs) really started after mid-Ramadan, continued with the 4 episodes per week format after Eid, and persisted thereafter. This coincided with the Maryam track and onwards.

I don't think there was any additional shooting due to TB's success (we have zero evidence supporting it). Shooting had wrapped up by end Jan a month after TB launched. In any case, shooting in PTV is not in sequence but by location. For instance, the BTS with Farrukh predates the start of TB even. The scene with MK rescuing Maryam from MZ also predates the start of TB.
