She's about to accept when
- Orange sherwani dulha says you are my dream, say yes. Say yes and make my dream come true. Marry me. I will fill your life with happiness. - Garv wonders why Koyal didn't give him the first bite. (cuz you arrived to the table late?? Tab tak baaki sab bhooke tumhara intezaar karte Garv??)
- Maina excuses herself and goes to the kitchen asking Koyal if she would help her as she doesn't know anything about these rituals and she doesn't want to get scolded again. Koyal says she'll help her
- Garv comes to the kitchen and asks if BM is okay. Koyal tells him she's fine and to go eat his breakfast. He asks why she didn't give him the first bite (am I missing something here?? the phrase was pehla nawala. is there another meaning that I'm not understanding?) and Koyal haughtily tells him he knows why. Garv thinks for a bit and asks if it's because of Titli (he thinks it's because he said Koyal misjudged Titli but it's in fact because Garv said he loves her). She says there's already a divide between them and it's best if he stays away from her. She thinks Titli did some black magic on him and he can't see her for who she is. Titli isn't the type to keep homes together, she breaks them apart. (Did she not see what Titli did for Monica?? The fck??) She asks him to promise her that he won't go after her.
- Garv gives a small nod, making Koyal happy
- Manikant's brother has overhead the conversation and sees how sad it has made Garv
Precap:
- At the mandir, Garv tells Titli that the last time when she was wronged her heart must have tried to make her understand. Now what's happening is right because some of life's tests are connected to the heart. Together, they will solve all problems. He places a garland of flowers around her like it's a varmala. Mahesh sees them and is shocked.
Quote of the Day: Ab mein bhi apne pyaar mein kabhi harunga nahi. Kabhi apne pyaar ko khoyunga nahi. I won't give up. - Garv Mehta
The conversation that Koyal and Garv had is the stand out scene from today's episode. Koyal, despite all these years of being shunned and neglected, refuses to give up on her love for Manikant and is still persistent in finding a way to his heart. It is her strong belief that her accepting defeat would be equivalent to her True Love for Manikant also being defeated which she can't let happen. Garv has internalized this and is now going to apply it to his own life. He too is going to refuse to give up on Titli and the love he has for her. He's going to do whatever it takes to make her fall in love with him.
The problem with this ideology is that it lacks the other person's consent. Both Koyal and Garv are enforcing their wishes and desires onto their beloveds without even pausing to think what the other person actually wants. Koyal, for the first time got a taste of her reality - that Manikant doesn't care for her. However, not being able to bear it, she quickly covered it up again saying she'll keep trying. Garv is the same in the sense that he simply can't take Titli's no for an answer. She already rejected his proposal but he keeps presenting himself as being this big hotshot that she would be missing out on. He needs to step back, mind his own business and let Titli come to him out of her own free will.
That brings me to my next big point: NO ONE IS LISTENING TO TITLI.
I had thought that her friend would hear her out, but no, she just came as an echo chamber of Garv. First of all, she was in no position to be siding with Garv. She has never met the man and has only heard of him through Titli which already makes it a very biased POV. Ideally, she should have been on Titli's side especially when she said she's not ready for a relationship. If she's not ready, then she's not ready. Period. No one should be trying to change her mind or push her into something that she doesn't want. When things go to shit for Titli, I want her to hold the friend responsible as well.
Thoughts:
It was a nice episode with some good stand out scenes. I've already talked about Koyal & Garv's moment. I'll say more once you guys have watched it.
The other scene I wanted to talk about was Titli's dream and how there were specifically three grooms and they all had very specific set of demands. The first appealed to Titli's past as he touched upon her broken relationship preventing her from moving forward. The second appealed to her identity and the personal ambitions she has. The third however was incredibly selfish as he referred to her as his dream. Her happiness came as an afterthought and the only reason why she was about to say yes to him was because he lured her with a butterfly that had landed on a flower.
This to me is the true represenation of Garv. He is all of these things. He understands Titli's past and the reservations and trust issues she has because of it. He does want to support Titli and bring her lots of happiness. However, it's also very true that she's only his dream. Titli doesn't desire him the same way that he does.
Before she could say yes to any of them, she does wake up which I think is again very telling. We can say that she doesn't consent or accept any version of Garv as none of them are perfect. They're all fragmented, broken shards of the person who he can be.
It's really unfortunate that she won't get the space and time that she needs to heal from her broken marriage. If she had, then perhaps Titli would have willingly come to Garv one day. But here she's being told that he's this amazing guy who can do no wrong, when it's going to be the complete opposite. Her reservations and her fears are absolutely valid.
If the writers are trying to show that women should not be pushed into marriage against their will, then thank you for this. Because this haste is what makes causes error in recognizing the true nature of people.
