And did you read the immediate next sentence after it? I am 100% behind him being charged for what he did. He was an adult who knew what he was doing wrong but still did it anyways.

I will leave it for you then. Having suffered from childhood abused didn't stop this man from indulging children of 4,6, 8 in s3xual activities. Even after serving 25 years in the prison didn't stop him from getting back to what he was pun8shed for with a 14 year old.

Childhood trauma isn't a password for anyone of any age to do any inhuman act, make others victim of their so called trauma (are they supposed to become, too) & get away with things they did for be cause they are SICK & blame it all on their trauma.

Sympathizing with one's trauma is absolutely human. If we can help them to get out of that dark place, we definitely should. But shielding them when their act made someone innocent miserable & blaming it all on their trauma to make them see the light, isn't it. Then, that's how I view it.

My whole spiel has been about holding adults accountable for their crimes against children. I am all for holding the adult who engaged in the sexual assault of minors under his care accountable for his crimes. Even though I sympathize with his trauma, I am in no way excusing Sam's behavior.

I do give Sam's victims, TK and Vikram, a pass because they are STILL CHILDREN. They were assaulted by someone who cared for them. They never intentionally committed a crime. Killing Shakti was an accident. Killing Bhola was self-defense. I believe they need an opportunity to heal and break the cycle that the likes of Alden and Sam created.

If they had intentionally harmed Shakti or sexually assaulted him - then it is another matter and would warrant legal punishment. If, as adults, they continue criminal behavior - then that is another matter that will warrant legal punishment.

I agree that salgaonkar family suffered the worse and didn't get ANY justice and just pain and suffering.

Shakti never harmed anyone. He was a problematic child acc to the cop. I think he was a serious liar and reminded me of a young Tom riddle.

I didn't feel a lot of sympathy for Shakti's father. He wanted to escape to his remote charity again. I felt the mom's new boyfriend was a lot more invested in finding Shakti.

And poor Shakti. He wasn't a malicious liar. He started lying to cope with his parent's divorce.

I also agree that Indian judiciary system isn't nuanced enough to understand that children who are victims of sexual abuse can cause an accidental death of a young boy after bullying him seriously. 2 things can exist without being related.

That was why I feel Nandita did not share Vikram's confession. The law is too black and white in India. That is why I said and SVU episode would have TK and Vikram being arrested but the entire trial would be nuanced.

As someone who has been working closely with adolescents and teens, i can vouch for a lot of things like that. Kids are troubled and cruel also.

And studying and grades can take a backseat. WE NEED TO SENSITIZE TEENS!!

They are mean, cruel and mostly insensitive.

I also felt that Nandita was genuinely interested in this. In one of the earlier episodes, she is reprimanded for probing into a child's mental health. When she raises a red flag about (can't remember if it was about TK or Vikram) becoming more angry and aggressive, and she wants to look into it - she is told that she's just a career counselor and shouldn't worry about these things.

This man in the video was a minor when he was raping minors BTW.

I understand that you believe in giving CHILDREN a pass but CHILDREN who with all their senses working fine does shit to children who are innocent, that doesn't make them pitiful. No amount of past trauma can be an excuse. Bullying in schools, colleges are a thing & they are done by the same age group. Classmates, seniors. Raging is passed by generation to generation. "We suffered, we will do it to the others" - that ain't it! There are Korean dramas based on school bullies who in their fun & game almost killed kids of their age. Took their eyes out (unintentionally), burned their hair. These bullies have traumas too. They didn't get enough attention at home. Neglected by parents etc etc. Are we going to not hold them accountable & sympathies with them so that they learn & have a better future? :)

There is no context in crime to the criminal. Age shouldn't be a factor to overlook the crime & victim's trauma. Taking an innocent's life away from themselves shouldn't be taken lightly, just because the criminal is below 18.

Anyway, the discussion won't go anywhere. Our perspective obviously don't match.

If you read my post, you will see that I state that an intentional crime or sexual assault would merit legal punishment. However, an accidental death is completely different.

There is context to crime. That is why criminal proceedings look at so many angles and trials go on for so long. That is why there can be variances in charges and sentencing for the same crimes. There is a reason there is juvenile law for those who commit crimes as a minor.

A crime shouldn't be overlooked. But a crime should be tried with all factors in consideration. And I don't even deny that the criminals should have ideally been charged. I am saying they get away because the Indian judicial system isn't equipped to try them.

I guess there are differences in perspective, you seem to see justice as retributive. But there is a communication disconnect as well. I feel as if you keep responding to things or attributing sentiments that I haven't said. 🤔
