So to begin here….There is only one man’s performance that can be my starting point… as it was mine…..the movie - grease and it was my “right to passage” . Call it the SoBo life … but I was thinking … am I being hazed when this right to passage was invoked and all the laughs/smiles on my cousins faces…. 😆

And then I realized…. It was the introduction of music + dance and the memory and dance holds till today.. so without much ado.. The man himself that changed the music scene and club scene … with his performances.. John Travolta…

Well… just reminds me of my high school “house parties”… sadly we were too shy as boys to ask gals to dance… but this was part of the reason of “right to passage” ;)…. Grease is an absolute must watch movie btw…

Watch the move at 1:14 … This signature move of Travolta is still used with this song today but the best tribute is that it’s the emoji for dance on apple devices as well…🕺🕺🕺…

And finally… another classic cult must watch movie.. Pulp Fiction.. and this dance scene from them..

I have a strong desire to make this my new siggy… i might be spamming the heck out of this thread… …

How come this thread came so late?😳

I had so many songs for this genre, but abhi kuch yaad hi nahi aa raha.🤔

Rabindranath Tagore, the Nobel laureate from Bengal, produced four dance dramas together referred to as Rabindra Nritya Natya: Chitrangada, Chandalika, Shyama, and Shrabangatha. The plot is exclusively delivered through dance and music in these pieces, which is their main distinguishing feature.

Lyrics & Music written by: Rabindranath Tagore

Year: 1895. Modhuro Modhuro Dhoni

Madhur madhur dhoni baje

Hridoykamolbanomajhe

Nibhritobasini binapani amritomurotimoti bani

Hirankiran chabikhani paraner kotha se biraje

Madhuritu jage dibanishi pikokuhorito dishi dishi

Manosmadhup padotale muracho pariche parimale

Aso debi, aso a aloke, asar tore heri chokhe

Gopone theko na monoloke chayamoy mayamoy saje

Transliteration in English

The lotus in my heart has been sweetly sonorous.

Devi, with the lute in her hand, dwells remotely,

Radiant in her appearance, Vaani,

I wonder, where placed within my heart.

Arrival of the spring, cuckoo calls from all directions.

My mind, affected by the divine fragrance,

Surrender to her feet like a honey-bee.

Come Devi, into the stream of light,

Let me reveal you completely.

Do not keep yourself undisclosed, within the conception,

Within the aura of hallucination, 'MAAYA'.

One more. Yeah sab mein dance thread pe post karney waalaa tha 🤣🤣🤣. Can’t resist.

Tap dancing is an amazing form of dance. I have been fortunate to see live performances of this type of dance tho not Riverdance itself. Michael Flately at his peak was considered the fastest tap dancer in the world. In May 1989, Flatley set a Guinness Book world record for tapping speed at 28 taps per second. He subsequently broke his own record in 1998 with 35 taps per second. ..😱😱😱😱

The music of riverdance is simply amazing but tap dance synchronicity makes it own music as well. Simply put .. amazing …

And one more piece (not Riverdance)

And ofc our very own Indian movie mein .. after all music and dance have no boundaries

Rabindra Sangeet has its own style, rhythm, base, and many other things to follow when it is sung. Rabindra Sangeet has a time and place to sing according to its parjaay. To sing a song correctly, notation (swaralipi) must be followed. Not only the taal, but the feel is also very important while presenting Rabindra Sangeet.

The feeling urges your feet to dance to convey the inner emotions, while the voice transports you to another realm on its enchanted wings.smiley27 It's pure magic. smiley42

Tagore was not a trained dancer, but he could understand its core because of his love for aesthetic beauty and a feel for life.

I read somewhere that during rehearsals, he would not be satisfied till he could convey the correct emotion for the dancers to portray through aesthetic movements.

Though he did not actually dance, he was able to lead dance to a new direction.

He believed that intense feelings could be best expressed through of dance.

Tagore’s dance-dramas capture the intense moments of life – the emotions are universal and eternal.smiley27

Rabindra Nritya's primary goal is to make the songs' feelings clear, which explains why the dance moves fit in so well with the songs' rhythm and lyrical brilliance.

The coordination of song and dance gives Rabindra Nritya a wonderful aspect.

Tagore gave his songs a distinctive flavour by creatively incorporating traditional talas and body movements, which also gave his dance-dramas a distinctive quality.
