Not Invited Anymore - Ajay and Kajol
Unlike most other events where producers hire PROs to ensure that the Bollywood glitterati come in, Ajay Devgan's secretary-turned-film producer did a role reversal. On Saturday, he requested Ajay and Kajol not to attend the music release of his upcoming film Haal-e-Dil.
Reason? Mangat felt that the media would focus all their attention on Ajay and Kajol and neglect his daughter Amita and her co-actors Nakuul Mehta and Adhyayan (Shekar Suman's son).
Says our source, "Mangat is very sentimental about Haal-e-Dil, as it is his daughter's debut film. He personally went to Ajay and Kajol's house to put forth his request. The earlier plan was that Ajay and Kajol would grace the occasion but Mangat suddenly thought otherwise."
The function was scheduled for 8 pm at J W Marriott. However, at 6.30 pm, Mangat reached Ajay 's residence. "Both of them were about to get ready and were very surprised to see Mangat." Though Mangat was very hesitant to broach the subject, he first shared his concerns with Ajay and then asked for his opinion.
Ajay, in turn, accepted that if Kajol and he attended the event, they would be the cynosure of all eyes, wherein Amita and her co-stars would get neglected. Thus, Ajay agreed not to grace the event.
When contacted, Mangat confirmed the story. "I am obliged to them for understanding my viewpoint. I am short of words to express my gratitude."
Ask him how did he think about this bright idea and he replies that he took a cue from a recent incident where big stars from a film were neglected by the media when an equally big guest (not from the industry) walked in.
Our source says, "Mangat learnt this lesson from the music release of Kamal Hassan-Mallika Sherawat starrer Dasvathram (held in Chennai last month) where the entire spotlight got shifted to Jackie Chan and the hero of the film Kamal Hassan was virtually left twiddling his thumbs.
When a big star like Kamal Hassan did not get his fair share of limelight; Mangat had every reason to believe that Amita and his co-stars would definitely find themselves eating a humble pie."
