Should content be heavily censored?

I have been thinking a lot on impact of films, TV, web series, songs, cartoons etc on kids, youth, adults and especially its role in driving fear in women and kids and emboldening potential killers, glorifying temper issues, perversion, promoting needless consumerism and materialism, glorifying lack of emotional control, promoting violence and vigilantism as heroism or sign of power.

In Shraddha case also, Aftab had confessed he was inspired by Dexter, Dahmer etc to cut body into pieces, methods of disposing body.

Now in Sakshi murder case also the killer Sahil has confessed he saw a web series on a psychopathic killer and was inspired to kill the woman brutally using same method as shown in web series.

I have seen internet has worst kind of crap both in writing and audio, visual form.

I had a friend who recently died by suicide after studying methods of suicide online through news reports, papers uploaded on forensic websites and studies on suicide and also saw lot of films and TV shows with suicide scenes and read books of pessimistic and nihilistic philosophers online and was part of right to die groups online. His family discovered only later what kind of stuff he had been seeing online.

Earlier in 2009-2010 there were cases of copycat suicide after 3 Idiots released and teens, kids had written 'I quit' on walls of their rooms exactly same way as shown in Joy's suicide in 3 Idiots.

My question is, should we heavily censor films, TV shows, media reportage, web series, fan fiction and other content online? Considering we are seeing not all adults exercise sense of reason or caution?

I have read reports of people abusing more after watching p**n online as well and rise in cases of child abuse, violence against women and bestiality.

Should we stop this blindly supporting anything in name of freedom of expression, creative liberty or showing 'truth' or showing 'fantasy'?

I have myself noticed people's language has worsened in daily life ever since they began using internet too much and began seeing crap web series and videos. Streetside lingo is now openly used by elders, kids, women and men at homes too.

How many more cases to go before society gets totally ruined with violence and perversion and usually women and kids bear the brunt or it adds to mental health crisis and rise in crimes and desensitizes people to violence and glorifies crime and torturing others?

Internet one has little censorship. Web series have next to no censorship as of now.

No . They are already rated according to their content . The cases you mentioned are like 1 out of 1000 and majority do not commit crime just because they watched it on a show . The psychopaths who get such ideas are psychopaths even without the show.

Just yesterday i read about what Vasco de Gama did when he landed on Indian shores....

The case of Jack the Ripper was in the year 1888 when there was no TV, movies nor theater else he would blame them for committing those crimes. Blaming movies or internet for crimes is just an excuse needed by those devils. What influenced them was the evilness they had within them and turned them into a psycho.

Censorship is not scissoring. All movies should be censored and given proper Certificates. Nothing should be made change to cater any xyz. Every creative person has his/her own vision. We can restrict the content to limited users. But who are we to comment that it’s not for anybody to watch etc.

But then human race as whole hasn’t been behaving very responsibly ever since we had ‘internet’. The onus is also on us.

I don’t agree with blanket censorship of anything fictional.
