Thats a valid question.. in my understanding when it came to opposing an entire british empire it was much more impactful coz it was like fighting against a singular body via non violence...but when it comes to communal tensions the success rate was less coz how is it possible to control sentiments of millions of people? the approach failed in such situations or misinterpreted coz religion is much more deep rooted ..it is part of our identity ..so even if one person gets the idea preached by Gandhiji..other person may not ..so it was impossible in his capacity via his methods but he kept trying coz he doesnt believe in blood shed...I believed that was one of the primary reason why Civil disobedience movement was also suspended coz it was taking violent turn ..nevertheless it still was significant movement which acted as catalyst to attain freedom..it showed the power of non violence to britishers...
