Killing and attacking is not something that everyone can relate to. Gandhiji gave the masses a weapon that they can use to participate in the independence struggle in the name of non-violence. Thousands and lakhs of people went out and fought for their independence through non-violence,thanks to him.

After they hanged Godse, his minions went berserk and started systematically destroying Gandhiji’s reputation. But alas, it’s been 75 years but they achieved zilch towards their unholy mission. Today Gandhiji is not just an icon to the Indians but also to the rest of the world. Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Einstein and many more drew their inspiration from him.

Our Manager ( A white American) sends us an Inspirational quote every morning and a lot of times it is from Gandhi ji.....Leaders from other countries call India.....the Land of Gandhi.....sadly he is revered all over the world but not in his own country...🤔

He could not have, though he tried. For one, the obvious one,he wasn’t the one running the business. And two, it clashes with what he was preaching to the masses and he wouldn’t have known how to explain his double standards by standing up for those who supposedly used violence.

that’s the whole tragedy of it all..Gandhijee in his staunch bid of ‘Ahimsa Parmo Dharma’ ..was not able to stop revolutionaries from being sentenced to death, was not able to stop Hindu Muslim violence, was not able to stop Partition, urged Hindus to sacrifice themselves. He practiced Jain doctrines of extreme levels of non-violence actually..but even Jainism talks about Kshatriya protecting the praja first. I will never for the love of me understand that when we were so close to achieve independence in the first Civil disobedience movement..why he dropped that movement ..and delayed the independence by another 17 years..perhaps if we succeeded in 1931-32..the country would not even have been partitioned….Indians were even sacrificed in the world war 2..because Britain had a large contingency of British Indian army fighting for itself..

All I will say is that Gandhijee gets disproportionate credit for freedom movement..Britain did not even leave India on our terms..they left because they were worn and torn with two World wars and are even today apparently paying back US for the war debt. Upar se humey Tod ke chale gaye..and then the Nehruvian era instead of adopting capitalism as the means to grow our country like Japan and Germany..opted for socialist model..it took them 40 years to open their eyes and opt for globalisation and privatisation ..I credit Nehru for flagging off ISRO and Bhabha research centre..but otherwise all of his international policies are very questionable..and Nehru was Gandhi’s choice for PM’s post..even though Sardar Vallabh bhai won the maximum vote count..so all those people crying democracy democracy right now..let me remind them what Gandhijee did back then too..overturning the consensus and favouring Nehru as PM

It’s ridiculous that we sit here in the comforts of our lush homes and not just judge but preach to these historical people who lived and breathed for their principles. While it’s ok to study them and take the good things from them and discard the things that you don’t agree with, it’s absolutely not acceptable to abuse them or judge them. For one we were not there and for two, none of us have earned the right to do so.

abuse what and who? It is Important to read history and analyse it in order to NOT repeat the mistakes. And we are all judging each other day in and day out..the whole purpose of studying history is to have a viewpoint on it..not to just mug up some years and dates. I haven’t abused anyone..I just gave my two cents..and this is exactly why we cannot have debates with left liberals..because they don’t have rebuttals to make..they just get personal..I only listen to Dr Shashi Tharoor..he is the only one from Congress who makes very valid points and critiques the government well..right man in the wrong party.
