If you remember Haya was sent away to the village after the incident and as soon as she returned they arranged an alliance for her and the only dialogue uttered by murtasim then was I want to get Haya married because I can't deal with 2 ziddi people, he's implying how adamant haya's become and how difficult it's to balance Haya’s presence, the animosity between meerab and Haya. Meerab wasn't willing to compromise on her ideals and shoddily executed her plan in getting Mariyum's love acceptance, finally letting mariyum elope with a cruel guy without doing any proper background check, this proves the inadequacy of meerab and disproportionate nature of her abilities vs her aspirations.

For me though, Haya legitimately became Murtasim’s problem when the staircase incident happened. Because it should have been clear that Haya is no average minded person, such that she would heed his warnings and understand his actions ands words towards her. At that point she became a straight up psycho … a crazy person that you can’t talk to. This is when I felt that he needed to keep the physical boundaries from a logical perspective at least. Just like I wouldn’t, for example, keep my kids near a legitimately unstable crazy person.
But also, I don’t know why Meerab didn’t protest more. She did a little but not to the degree I expected for a strong willed woman!
