Who is the bigger female star as of today?
None.
Those excited days of competition among sridevi, Madhuri, Juhi, Karishma, kajol, raveena, Urmila, Kareena, Priyanka etc are long over, today the bollywood is kind of "VEERAN" lost its magic (atleast currently) there are hardly any active female stars left to compete with anyone, there is no competition so such questions are kind of pointless given the current sad and veeran state of hindi cinema, and the lost enigmatic magic and excitement of the cinegoers for the stars, which was very much there once.

Female lot still has a lot of promise and star power with likes of DP, Alia, Kat, PC, Kareena, Vidya, Rani, even some of the younger lot like Tripti, Sanya, Radhika etc. The men on the other hand, oof. Nothing but old raisins still pretending to be in their 30s.
Those "fond" days of cinema had women playing second fiddle to the heroes running around a bunch of trees and talking about biwi ka kartavya and maa ki mamta. No thanks.
BO wise and in India it is Alia.
Globally it is Deepika with her Oscar presenter act, TIME cover in terms of popularity.
Alia has hardly had flops except maybe Sadak 2.
Whatever she does, becomes a hit.
I would say Alia... solely based on the Deepu Mythology that Alia follows Deepika's footsteps.......so Deepika has been the numero uno....so of course Alia will follow her.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu
If it's only BW, Alia. Ash is the only one from her gen in top 10 though. Very significant!
After watching Mrs chatterji...
Rani.
She was fantastic!
But yeh.. Alia is better at acting than ice skating cringe... that has really messed with my head
Maybe Alia but let's see whether she does movies ahead or not

well I disagree with due respect with genuine reasons.
The names you have mentioned Kat, pc, vidya, rani etc have passed there primes, they are still around but not in the number games to compete with anyone, their peak time to be in the number one game is over and everyone knows this.
The likes of Sanya, radhika etc belongs to more of art house cinema mote then the mainstream also nowhere in popularity or in the numbers game at all, Tripti is new and hardly have any releases that too of parallel cinema types or ott based.
The fond days where you said heroines were JUST props was the era where we get our LAST female superstars Sridevi and Madhuri who ruled and the films used to sell on their names more then the heroes, a phenomena which was never seen after that. Other actresses of. that time also got such a fame in that era which is unheard of and apart from that they had author backed roles as well apart from running around the trees, that time heroines used to do alot of films and all kind of movies.
apart form Patni paviyra which is not a bad thing (compared to today's mindset where sleeping around with anyone as depicted in today's most films is so so normal) the actresses back then had real strong feminist roles, example are Anjaam, khoon bhari maang etc to just showcase as examples.
my post is not about the older men, but the REAL lack of mainstream popular heroines that are in the number games and in real competition of mainstream cinema, even Deepika is around for 16 long years and is in the last legs of her stardom, only Alia is left with not much of a competition around with anyone.
Disagree as much with my post, but I am simply stating the facts at hand.
cheers
:)
