Yes, that is the reason they stated + she went alone to the forbidden Navrangan forest to get the rare herbs which Senapati knows of, so he blackmails her about it. Her father knows she understands a bit about herbs, but does not know she can read or has any formal knowledge about it. He thinks it similar to how all of us know that haldi on wound heals it faster. Only Bhaiji knew so far from the 17th century fam that she wants to be a doctor and tried helping her to study it properly.
