He wants Meerub around so she keeps alive the side of his which he himself loves and wants ! That is why he is so desperate she reciprocate, his idea she reciprocates means she will stay with him forever - she is like his oxygen.
So lay finger on Meerub he will burn down everything and everyone in path!
