Why is Joe Root sat on the bench?

Why on earth have the Rajastan management just brought on a sub that is averaging about 12 runs per innings when they have one the of the worlds finest batsmen sat on the bench doing sweet fa? Sangakara hasn't got a clue.....

Root is also one of the greatest players of spin in history of the game! Not sure how much Kumar is getting paid for managing the RR team but it's too much.
