The problem with all reviews is nobody every tried understanding Meerab character!

Meerab’s beauty is all her personality!
She is never shown as someone whom a guy sees for first time in morning light or moon light and falls in love
Nor someone who is totally self sacrificing and Cinderella types! She is more of strength and integrity along with her own flaws that’s what makes her more humane and attractive to hero!
She is like him in many ways but still able to hold herself and remain calm in all chaos. Here serenity is what he says is sukoon and which is what keeps attracting him!

To love or admire someone at their best and peak is nothing new but if someone is able to fall for you at your lowest means that person sees strength in them!

YZ had played meerab so well inspite the character , she is both boon -anyone else I dunno if they could have portrayed her without being hated by all and bane - why ?those who have seen her previous work esp reviewers and hardcore fans not able to digest her as meerab !

I think the reason why people and reviewers did not try to understand Meerab's character was because of the way the character was written.

We understand and try to understand the characters because we like Meerasim and we want to explore more about them. But for some people and the reviewers it is a show and they take the characters on face value.

If Meerab's character was written and directed with a little more thought it would have reached more people's hearts better.

Meerab was introduced as strong, opinionated, and ambitious girl. When we describe a character we want to see the characteristics of the character in the show. And the actions of the character reflecting the traits of the character. Here the writing to some extent failed to show that aspect but Yumna saved the character with her acting. Like someone said Meerab does not have the dialogues at the most important parts of the drama. I feel that no dialogues at some points is understandable but at some points it is not understandable. But Yumna pulled off the role at those points and conveyed the emotions perfectly with her expressions.

And I remember in Episode 11 review of Tere Bin, Rabia from Fuchsia and Aamna from Something Haute understood Meerab's character when she said that she was doing everything as a reaction. They understood Meerab's character at that point. And also in Episode 14, when Meerab told her father that they ruined her life by getting her married. Then also I remember in SH review Aamna understood Meerab if I am not wrong.

The point is that we did not get any monologue from Meerab regarding what she was going through. And when she does things some people don't understand why she is doing those things because of lack of monologues. If the makers had given her monologues it would have made the character understandable to some people.

@bold: he says it… a LOT and then a few other actors have said it as well…in the same way. (There was some compilation on YT with other actors talking about her.) I want them to find some other way to express this b/c it starts to sound too contrived after a while.

Also yessss…I felt that way about the Kinza ad too 😂 When that Jurm aunty from Humsafar (Atiqa Odho) said that they should have picked Kinza for this show…ugh…no thanks.

You can see the “acting” also in the 22 qadam scenes they show clips of as well. He’s still very good…just the pairing doesn’t seem as organic.

I really noticed this first in this ad Wahaj did a few months ago with Kinza. Wahaj was wahaj-ofying as usual. But Kinza had such dead eyes and inert expressions, it really looked like Wahaj's expressions hitting a dead wall and bouncing back. I felt the same with Wahaj and Hania (I don't watch MPHT so this is based on a few clips here and there).

Like you said, with Yumna, it seems she is able to absorb his expressions (no matter how intense) mould it and then respond to it with her own energy/expressions. I guess this is the action-reaction thing Wahaj keeps harping on.
