But I hated that film Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat with a passion. The story of a girl falling in love with her rapist. 🤢🤢 Poor plot, poor script, and poor direction. As a result, the director did not extract the best from Rani either.

Mahima made her debut in a far better movie. The movie had far better actors, writing, and direction. And yes, Subash Ghai did extract a reasonably good performance from Mahima.

Mahima gave an impactful performance in her first film. I thought ya man.. this girl will go places...but then it fell flat.

Where as Rani was also brilliant in her first film..and she just picked up and got better and better.

No doubt, otherwise Rani topped it no questions asked.

Mahima was an average actress at best with not much range in acting. She was good in some films like Pardes, Daag etc where she had author-backed roles.

Rani debuted with the medicore Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat and she wasn't very strong (acting-wise) during her initial years, but she improved by leaps and bounds with every film as her career progressed.

The way her career peaked between 2002-2006 was something else.👏 Sadly, she had the steepest fall in her career in 2007, but thankfully her comebacks later worked in her favor.

She is one of the most versatile actresses in Bollywood.

Rem when Kareena debuted.. ppl thought yeah she is going to be great.. like her sister. Turned out the opposite she was flat. But later she picked up and has made a name for herself.

These 2 came in, in their first films they made a great impact. I'm only talking about a comparison of the first films..not the rest of their career life, just to clear that.. hence I enlarged that fact its regarding debut

The rest we know is history now.. Rani ruled and Mahima drowned.

Generally past Pardes Mahima wasn't all that.

It also helped that Mahima debuted with a much better film, had a better character, better co-star(Shahrukh 😳) , the whole movie was endearing and so was her character, she was fab in it. Whereas the less said about Rani’s B grade film the better.

I think their idea of rape was different in the movie.. without going into much details.

Mahima.

Rani was raw and over the top in her debut. Even in Ghulam and KKHH there was awkwardness, but she progressed and grew wonderfully and really came into her own in the early 2000's.

Mahima had a much more polished debut but flatlined after it.

Debut film wise, Mahima wins this poll because she debuted with Pardes, which is one of the biggest hits and memorable film from the 90s. SRK, Shubhash Ghai, Decent Storyline, Great music, Great supporting cast .... the film had everything. Mahima also acted very well👏.

Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat .......... is more or less a B-grade film. Nothing about the film is appealing. But I've heard there is a fan following for this film, apparently in some rural corners of India.

Yes agreed , Rani’s Debut was a bad film but she shone in it like a Sun to get Ghulam and KKHH

Mahima despite Pardes, has been a flop and out of work actress
