Do you think ONS trigger Katha's lack of physical intimacy causes her fall in love?
Do you think ONS trigger Katha's lack of physical intimacy causes her fall in love?
I am again coming up with bold topic which might we have discussed earlier in bits and pieces.
Though Katha considered ONS morally wrong, but whether it triggered the need for physical intimacy or sex. She always has friends to share her emotional pain and her son to give her happiness. And she has beautiful memories of her late husband which makes her uninterested in love again. So what causes Katha to feel for Viaan again.
Sex is the ultimate physical/sensual pleasure and it is difficult to resist who have tasted it once. I have heard many real stories/watched crime shows where widows started having affair with married man (usually husband friends/relative) or to get both benefits financial help and fulfill sexual desire. Widow who has kids usually prefer to not get married because of their kids but fall for much younger guys just to fulfill their lust.
What do you think about it?

I don't think so , when ONS katha didn't have any feelings . This was an act for her son. Just after ONS her behavior with Viaan's closeness told us she was not comfortable. She now has some feelings for him as they have come a long way from that night. She has heard his reason, she has seen his broken side.. She also enjoys her company as he opens up..She feels like opening her story as well..
physical proximity plays a major role in developing an intimate relationship -especially in arranged ones!
Here, ONS - I don't think so. it was her helplessness or choice to save her son, it was not done with her heart in it or any emotional involvement.
Sexual drive is more when we watch p*rn or heard friend's sexual story. Lack fo physical intimacy create a feeling of loneliness especially requirement of opposite gender.
There was a serial stories of rabindranath tagore where FL (radhika apte) was widow and after becoming friend with newly married woman, they usually talk about making love which increases loneliness in FL causes to have affair with that friend's husband.
There was a survey where woman mostly prefer to have affair with their ex boyfriend rather than new one when she is not getting physical satisfaction with current partner.
This is TV serial where they won't show Katha feeling need for sex and FL has to have high morals.
Let's suppose Katha is ready for remarriage, didn't she have to reveal her secret with the new partner or constantly live in the fear that what will happen if somehow that secret will be out to her new husband. This create a mental block to Katha that she can't have new partner especially when Viaan started feelings for her and may be reveal her secret if she tries to get engage with other.
Most women can't come out of bad relationships because they had physical relationship to their boyfriend and have fear that if their boyfriend would reveal this secret in their arrange marriages.
we did discuss a lot in DT about what might have happened that night 😆
in the original dizi, it was very subtly implied that the night was enjoyable and it affected both of them. so your question is something we had considered a lot in DT. however, in this version, the makers perhaps didn't want to do that subtle implication because it would make katha look bad and maybe turn off viewers. we still don't know how they feel about what happened between them.
however, like you said, in real life, many physical relationships turn into affairs and even marriages. so that component is there.

You are talking about Chokher Bali , thats a different story altogether though Binodini is not likeable character but you still feel empathy for her. I do not think that Indian TV is still that broad minded to accept a character like Binodini in mainstream indian tv show. This is completely different story. We have not been introduced to any sexual desire from katha whatsoever. Well we can say Katha's inner feelings have not been shown much especially for Viaan. She feels anger about that night , there is a hurt too but she is shown now that she does not hold any grudge about it. Coming to your next point on whether she fears that Viaan will reveal that secret to her future husband, this question does not hold as Katha does not intend to even have someone in her life beyond Aarav. She is still hold on to Adi's memories. Regarding people coming out of bad relationships in fear of physical relationship being exposed. I feel one should be honest with yourself and your partner about any past that might be. If the person does not accept you with the past and baggage that comes along , he surely lacks maturity. Its better not to marry such immature person than lying to just getting married. This is purely my opinion.
IMO kathaa was in a state of shock, trauma and despair because her son was terminally ill. She did beg Mr.Garewal and tried borrowing from her company nothing worked and stealing isn't her nature hence refused the deal with pyramid, as it will steal other employees of their future. In such a traumatic situation no human can get horny or think about intimacy.
Sexuality or urge to have gets killed by stress, and here kathaa's stress levels are on steroids, so we can not remotely accept that kathaa was sexually attracted to Viaan due to the ONS. Because the minute the poor lady came out of the room she hugged the money bag as a child irrespective of the means. She was happy at that point, thinking only about her child's health and treatment.
Also, it can be noted that kathaa was treating Viaan like a filth after ONS, and she found his touch disgusting. Viaan, after the ONS, was cross at her because kathaa didn't even look back and he never wanted it to be transactional. When she returned back upon his request, he defintely wanted her in his life irrespective of their equation and the ONS.
Viaan wanted himself to be proven wrong, because he didn't want to commit the mistake of falling for someone who lacks moral values, because that'd liken him to his dad. Still he couldn't stop himself falling for Kathaa, so he definitely had something solidified within him post ONS.
People become asexual when their partner is deceased because sex has the soul connect at a primordial level and that's why wife and husband are being called soulmates or other halves across the world in various cultures.

I didn't say Katha was attracted to Viaan during ONS or get attracted to Viaan after ONS.
I am saying may be after ONS, she realized more void in her life than before.
Morality and sensuality pleasure are two different things. Lot of vegetarian people are first hesitant to eat not veg due to their morality and religious. But once they taste it either due to unavailability of veg food in foreign or due to peer/life partner pressure, they liked it and next time there is not much hesitant. Same thing can be said to happen with alcohol. Alcoholic people left alcohol for 2 -3 years, but once they taste it again due to peer pressure, they again started drinking occasionally.
Sexual activity in marriage become addiction. Initial years of loss of partner is tough due to strong memory of their partner. Some people even left their favorite food due to depression or due to stigma that now nothing is left in their lives, only to be started later. Katha also left playing holi but once it started, she will not back out. Same thing can be said about sex. Though it was forced, it further enhanced the void in her life, probably missing organsm.

Yes, Chokher Bali, I forgot the name.
@red, this is what I am saying. Showing sexual desire is still a bold a topic in ITV. Forget about FL, ITV are still hesitant to show desire in ML. That's why ML in Katha is heavily change than OG.
Katha didn't have romantic desire also. But Viaan romantic lines are effecting her. In the same way I am talking about ONS.
@blue, most people feel that ONS is a mental block for Katha to move towards Viaan. However I feel that Katha has totally forgive Viaan and it is not anymore blockage. However it become mental block for her to even rethink about second marriage since she has to reveal her dark secret which can't be done in arrange marriage. Then Viaan become the only option for her if she feel void in her life.
IMO SEX isn't an addiction because all adults get into sexual relationships and many adults may not have an active conjugal life for various reasons and it doesn't mean that people get maniacally depressed or get horny with others. So equating a basic instinct like sexuality with substance abuse like alcoholism is not fair.
Coming back to the serial we can clearly see that kathaa was definitely not happy even with the reminder of the night meaning, she loathes herself more than the other person for that night. It's a trait of people who are confident of their abilities, they think they are powerful enough and have the ability to shoulder responsibilityfor everything in their life and surroundings. Kathaa definitely had her son and his future in mind not even her clothes or appearance all this means, it's not a void but she's numb from within.
People put up with abusive partners not because they are addicted to sex, but only because abuse can be very subtle and may not differentiate whether to call it abuse or they are overreacting, also other reasons could be dependent family members.
IMO abuse is a big word sadly used very loosely, I call most of the times it could be a misaligned or unhealthy behavioural pattern of people in response to an environment, relationship or a specific individual. Because an abusive husband may be an obedient son or an adoring father. So, in such cases what led to the unhealthy behavioural pattern needs to be analysed and addressed instead of blindly labelling everything as abuse.
Also being a vegetarian is again a choice, rather than a compulsion. My western colleagues who turned vegetarian gets bullied for eating salads but they still remain committed to being vegetarian because it's their choice. I feel the ability to make choices and living with our choices is what that differentiates us from animals, otherwise we are all part of the Animal family.
