There is this Malayalam movie called 'ennu ninte moideen' which means your truly moideen'.

In it the leads were of different religion so both of their families were against their union and the girl was locked up in her house for 10 whole years. Their love for each other was eternal and when it was finally time for them to get together he dies in a river flood.

The saddest part is it's based on a real life story and the woman is still alive. It's a cry fest of a movie.

idk there is something so beautiful in my bhabhi’s friend’s story…it’s not that they didn’t love each other or stopped loving each other …it’s just that the death of their child was too much for them to bear together that they had to get over it individually to be able to come back together…it’s such a different journey of love. We think that they should have dealt with it together, after all it was their child..,but the fact is sorrow is such a deep rooted emotion, each one of us have our own ways of dealing with it…there is no one size fits all approach to love ..be it love for a partner or a child
