In between there were a lotta rumours that SRK-Ajay dont get along. They brushed it off.

He has had an open feud with KJo but they both seem to have put it past them, at least publically.

Ajay had staunch rivalry with SRK in 90s. He had once taunted SRK saying dancing at weddings and awards is like doing mujra and that he was an artiste, not a mujrewala.

Ajay had also taken digs at SRK for attending parties, inaugurations, private functions for a fee. Many other actors like Aamir, yesteryear stars like Rajesh Khanna had also taken digs at this and said it reduced prestige associated with stars and reduced them to commodities who could be bought for a certain amount.

Actually everything about Ajay is rather quiet. He has also had decent box office track record (I think?) But he never got praised sky high for it like Akki or any of his other contemporaries. Even his critically acclaimed films dont get raved about like Saif's. (I am out of depth here coz I have barely seen either of their films, it could totally be that Ajay wasn't good enough).

If you ask about the top actors of Bollywood (during 90s, 2000s), I would easily forget Ajay's existence even😆

His National awards and Padma awards also never got him huge limelight the way Khans, AB Sr or Akki get.

His critically acclaimed performances like Zakhm, Company etc are also less talked of.

His BO records are less talked even if he gives good hits.

Media has hardly hyped him.

His Hindi language controversy with Kicha Sudeep also got brushed aside soon.

Amused that his friends or rivals both do not talk about him. It surprised me Kangana never named him though it is open knowledge Sanjay and Ajay passed her around during Rascals and OUATIM. Kangana has taken on everyone else but refused to name Ajay.

To your question..what's so special about him? As an actor ,nothing is admirable about him..neither his acting skills nor his looks..

As an individual,each and every one of us are special and unique..

The days he rose into fame was not a time period were actors had pr ruining everyones profession.Yes,there was few witty and nasty reviewers back then who would write off an actor,but people didn't care.Ajay is an actor,not a star....so he doesn't need much limelight.His movies did well in B & C centres and he did few remarkable cameos and as well few freedom fighter/ soldier wala roles ..noone will give a hoot if he choose to quit Hindi cinema..

Maybe he asks his PR to keep it on the down low about his films, awards, box office collections etc. Acha chal raha hai bhai ka. No one cares, so no one trolls him also when his films flop.

Smriti Irani once spoke how she totally refused to attend private parties and birthdays or weddings for a fee or to dress up as Tulsi for people's personal functions no matter what amount she was offered.

Most actors consider it below dignity and an affront to self respect. SRK, Akki, Shilpa and some others are only ones who are ready to go anywhere as long as you pay them the price they demand. They are bashed a lot for bringing down prestige of artistes and reducing them to mujrewala or commodifying artistes.

Earlier Lata, Rafi etc would also totally refuse to perform at private functions of others. I am surprised how she recorded Gayatri mantra for Isha Amhani's wedding. Otherwise Lata mostly avoided doing favours for personal parties or weddings of others or their jagratas. But then even Aamir broke his rule and danced at Ambani wedding, so I guess Ambani is the only one who can buy anyone and get anyone to do anything for him.

It amuses me how SRK's rivalry with other Khans, Bachchans (at one point), Hrithik etc is talked of but his rivalry with Ajay barely got mention except in few print issues of Stardust and Filmfare. Even their fanboys do not fight online much as much as they do for other Khans or Akki or HR or Bachchans.

I don't know why actresses went Gaga over him. But about his movies, they are relateble and he has his own fan base who are neutral. His movie always have a story and he make movie according to the demand of time. I liked him alot in company, zameen etc.

I was watching a video of Ajay visiting Modi in Gujarat when he was CM. Ajay has investments in real estate, solar power plants etc and Gujarat govt gave him lot of favours in getting such deals there.

Ajay's stocks go up whenever BJP comes to power and particularly Modi and Arun Jaitley were very kind to him in all matters.

Forbes Celebrity 100 had also snidely hinted at his net worth and how he has his own private jet and what property, real estate investments he has.

He is fairly rich for an actor with a moderate to high BO record.

Devgans lead a fairly lavish lifestyle even as they may not flaunt it.
