Exactly

Either they write roti dhoti female characters or stubborn one, why can't we have a decent, strong headed female character on screen. Who is not dumb, who is not egoistic and who is not weak.

I think it’s not writers it’s more of PH , they want what sells especially with so much money riding on shows.

Heard sare re rah and KA are both plot wise, acting and female centric but still week after week u see people taking about TB and MPHT .

Wish we don’t have preachy females and at same time not totally dumb FL , they can be balanced females leads
who are not mahaan.

Actually meerab fits bill only if they worked little more like giving few POV in between .

Hey guys. So I just wrote something on what if Meerab actually fell when Murtasim asked her to jump and went a little dark there. Still hope you'll read though and give feedback. 🫣

"Khan Murtasim Khan has been given life imprisonment for the murder of his wife and no one can guess what the status of the mighty Khan family would be further on."

_____________

[Flash back]

"Jump, now", he says, his face looking like a stranger's to her.

"Mazak kar rahe ho?", she says, fear and disbelief evident in her voice and on her face.

"Nahi, mujhe aise hi yaqeen aayega", he repeats, his anger reaching maniac level.

She gives him a look of disbelief, fear gone, as fierceness takes its place and she steps on the ledge. Unintentionally her hands reach forward to hold something and her knees bent forward as well, making her fall off the ledge. Murtasim reaches urgently to hold her but she's long gone, her scream echoing behind her and then a loud thud as she makes contact with the metal railing of the swimming pool.

"MEERAB", he screams, running down the staircase like mad.

Maryam and Bakhtu have also arrived as he reaches there but he blocks them out, his focus on getting to his Meerab.

"Ya Allah, no, please no, please, mujhe maaf kar dein", he pleads to to his Lord as he reaches her. She's lying by the pool, in a pool of blood, and is breathing, slowly. Very slowly.

He takes her head in his lap. Oh God, there's too much blood, too much, his shirt is soaked in seconds.

"M....ur....", she's trying to speak.

"Shh, Meerab, its okay", he shushes her, hyperventilating.

"Malik, bibiji ko hospital leke chalein", bakhtu tells him and he immediately picks her up and sits in the car enveloping her whole being in his arms and holding her close to his chest like she's a little baby.

"Bhai, blood rokne ki koshish karein", Maryam had sat with him. They both try to find the wound but it almost looks impossible.

"Kuch nahi hoga, kuch nahi hoga, jaan, kuch nahi hoga, I am sorry baby, kuch nahi hoga, sab theek ho jayega", he doesn't know what else to say as he hugs her tighter and tighter to his chest.

And then her head moves away from his heart making his heartbeat stop for a second. She has lost consciousness, he thinks. He taps her cheek, caresses them desparately but she doesn't budge. Has he lost her already? No no, aise kaise. She'll be okay, just need to get her to the hospital. He tries to relax himself.

"Meerab, meerab, aankhein kholo please, jaan, we're just there, thoda sa himmat, bas pohoch gaya".

"Ya Allah ye kya kar diya maine" he sobs, as he touches his forehead to hers. "Meerab, ye to nahi hona tha".

"Malik, hum pohoch gaye" bakhtu stops the car.

Murtasim takes Meerab out, and the emergency staff run towards them, they put Meerab on the stretcher and he runs along with the stretcher, sobbing and speaking to her, to somehow wake her up, though his words incoherent now as the time to leave her comes near.

They reach the emergency room and he's stopped. He takes one last look at her and her calm face, though bloodied gives him hope. Hope that, his happiness will open her eyes soon. He'll bend over backwards for her forgiveness and she'll forgive him too. He'll learn to never be angry now. Never ever, with her. He'll learn to never risk her life now. He'll kill himself before he puts her life at risk. He'll learn to be a good lover.

He sobs and sobs as he sits on the chair seated beside the reception table. Maryam sits beside him and puts her hand on his shoulder. He turns, puts his head on her shoulder and cries hysterically.

"I didn't want this to happen", he says in between heaving sobs.

"Bhai, ofcourse you didn't, galti se gir gayi bhabhi, but Insha'Allah abhi theek ho jayengi, sab theek ho jayega, aap sambhale khud ko", Maryam tries to console him, though she herself is in a devastating state.

"Nahi galti se nahi giri", he chokes out absentmindedly, his mind hauntingly repeating her scream as she fell,

"MURTASIM"

He wants to die. But more than that, he wants her to say her name in her beautiful sensuous voice again.

"Par meri Meerab hai woh, main uske marne ka soch bhi nahi sakta Maryam", he goes on, holding on to Maryam's dupatta like a child. Maryam looks at her brother, confused.

"Mr. Khan", the doctor had come out. Murtasim stands up like a bolt of electricity shot through him.

"How's she?" he asks, with all the hope in this world, in his eyes.

"I am sorry, even though she was brought dead, we tried to revive her, but the blood loss was too much, she's no more", the doctor ends with a sigh.

"SHUT UP", Murtasim shouts. "How can you say that?" He charges towards the doctor. "She's not dead, you hear me", he says in a low voice as he holds the doctor's collar. Then gives him a jerk and runs towards the emergency room.

There she lays, his Meerab, she looks as beautiful as ever. They had cleaned her face up.

"Meerab, meerab, utho, the doctor is speaking shit right, you are not gone right?", he takes her face in his hands but she is not responding. She looks white, extra white. Her lips have lost their pinkness. And her fierce eyes are just not opening. He removes the bloodied hair from her forehead and puts his on hers "Jaan, aise nahi karo, mere gunaah ki itni badi saza, nahi karo, please, uth jao, mazak hai yeh", his sobs start again as he starts shaking.

The doctors and staff in the room leave the room to give him some time to be with his deceased wife. He notices them leaving and a dread fills him up. What if she's actually - no!!

"MEERAB, WAKE UP, DAMN IT", he punches the emergency table and a sharp object goes through his knuckles making him hiss in pain, but the pain he feels at Meerab not opening her eyes is way bigger, and so he holds her, he shakes her body, and he cries violently and he asks her to open her eyes again and again but she's not listening. He is angry at her for not listening and suddenly remembers what he promised himself, "I am sorry, nahi karunga gussa, please uth jao, ab uth jao", he looks up wiping his tears, then cries again when he sees no response, again. "Meerab yaar, ye kya ho gaya hai tumhe", he cries helplessly, taking hold of her hand, the hand that always held his, whenever he asked her to, but this time it refuses to, and goes limp in his. And then realisation dawns on him. She's gone. She's truly gone. His meerab is gone. Tears never stop coming from eyes as his brain processes this information and he kisses the limp hand hard, maybe trying to give it some life. And exactly then another realisation hits him hard. He did this. He killed her. And his body shakes. He leaves his hold on her, and gets up and away from her. He is a monster. And a beautiful person like his Meerab doesn't deserve someone like him to be near her, even in death.

He turns away from her and he is still shaking, as he confesses to himself, "I killed her, maar diya maine usse, apni Meerab ko maar diya maine", he laughs a little maniac laugh, "Murtasim Khan ne apni biwi, apni Meerab ki jaan le li". He says with a blank face in the empty room.

Just then, the police enters the room.

"Mr. Khan, I know this is a huge blow to you but we need you to answer some questions about how this accident happened", the commissioner asks him.

"Maine maara hai", he says in that same blank expression. And puts out his hand to be handcuffed.

He is walking out in handcuffs, awah from his Meerab and Maryam is crying hysterically and Anwar has just arrived talking harshly to the police to release Murtasim and Maa Begum asking Bakhtu what happened to Meerab and how is she and he is walking away from his Meerab and nothing else matters in life anymore.

____________

[Current]

"How did Mrs. Khan die, Mr. Khan?"

"I killed her."

"And how exactly did you kill her"

"I told her to jump from the terrace."

"Agni-pariksha? In this day and age? Oh, you men never fail to make me surprised.", she laughed a little. "Anyway, what exactly was she guilty of?"

"She was guilty of nothing. I didn't want it to happen. I was just angry. She was just not understanding that I had died, I had died a thousand deaths in that half ho-

"What half hour?"

"The half hour she was with him, and I had no idea where she was".

"So you asked her to kill herself because she was with a guy and you didn't know where they were?"

"No, I didn't know where she was or with whom, I was scared if something had happened to her".

"This doesn't add up, Mr. Khan, you say she is not guilty, yet you ask her to prove her innocence."

"I didn't ask her to jump to-," he chokes, "I didn't want it to happen".

"Do you have anything to say in your defence other than 'I didn't want it to happen'?", the attorney mocks him.

"I don't want to defend myself", he says calmly, looking up in the eyes of the person opposite him, first words that were said without any tremble.

"Well that concludes my queries I suppose.", the attorney says, though a little taken aback. " So you accept whatever the punishment the court decides today in the murder of your wife, Mr. Khan?" she looks into his eyes.

"Yes", he replies, and looks down, once again, back to the position he has been in since the beginning of the session.

__________

[Few years later]

He is sitting with his back to the wall, tears no longer coming out, his eyes are like the well that has given out too much water, and he is blabbering, all he does is blabber now. Well to his cellmates its blabbering, but to him, he's talking to his Meerab.

"My Meerab. I don't think I even deserve to think your name, let alone address you as mine, but I am shameless now, I am a despicable human being, I turned into a monster that night when I asked you to jump, but trust me, I didn't want this to happen, how could I want you to die, my Meerab, when you were the only person making me feel happy, making me feel like I deserved to be a normal human and not just a leader. You always made me feel different you know? Even when I hated you, I loved you. And I just-"

"Oye meri Meerab, chal khaane ka time hai", a guy with long beard and red eyes, compassionate enough to remind him, shouts at him from the door.

His cellmates and the jailor laughed at the nickname used as he gets up to join them.

"Waise aisa tha kya teri Meerub mein? Usko maarne ke baad bhi uske

geet gaata rehta hai?", The long-bearded guy asks him as they walked side by side to get their food.

"Bas wo meri thi." he says.

This breaks my heart!! 😭😭

This could have happened with that jump scene... Loved your flow of writing! ❤

If viewers had got the clarity on why she did what she did, then it would have made the character understandable to the viewers. We understand the character because we see things from her perspective. But viewers take things as they are shown.
