Hum Tum, the 2004 Bollywood romantic comedy, is a film that captures the essence of modern love in a vibrant and entertaining way. The movie revolves around the lives of Rhea (played by Rani Mukherjee) and Karan (played by Saif Ali Khan), who initially meet on a flight and subsequently bump into each other throughout their lives.

The characters are well-developed and relatable, with Rhea representing a strong and independent woman who is focused on her career, while Karan is a carefree, flirtatious guy who is unsure about his future. The chemistry between the two is undeniable, and the film's portrayal of their blossoming relationship is charming and heartwarming.

Hum Tum also explores the themes of friendship and self-discovery, as Rhea and Karan navigate their own personal struggles while maintaining their relationship. The film's use of animation sequences, depicting the two leads as cute and quirky cartoon characters, adds a unique touch to the storytelling.

The music is another highlight of the film, with memorable and catchy songs that perfectly capture the mood of the scenes. The choreography is also impressive, with vibrant and energetic dance numbers that are a staple of Bollywood movies.

While the film has its flaws, such as some cringe-worthy moments and a few pacing issues, the overall experience is enjoyable and uplifting. It's a must-watch for fans of romantic comedies, as well as anyone looking for a heartwarming tale of love, friendship, and self-discovery.

This is my review which I wrote in 2004 in my college application essay. Still rings true❤️

The only legit rom-com since the 2000s. It’s a shame no one is able to beat this in the last 20 years.

I found Hum Tum more endearing than When Harry Met Sally. Harry was loutish and abrasive, and Karan was likable and charming.

My favorite part about the movie is how their relationship grows organically and naturally. It isn't a sudden love at first sight, and now we must move heaven and earth to be together. But the beauty is in how they get to know each other through different phases of life before getting together.

I think it emphasized the core of friendship in romantic love better than any other Bollywood movie.
