Am I the only one who felt like she was looking at him more passionately than he was looking at her when he pulled her close? He was staring at her with a mix of love, passion and even some innocence. Hers was pure passion…the way she looked at him (and his lips) when he pulled her in. She was very attracted to him in that moment!
YES. While we as viewers are always lauding Wahaj for how he communicates Murtasim's passion and desire through his eyes, his gulps, voice modulations, etc. I feel we don't recognize and give credit enough to Yumna for the same. One reason for this that more often than not Yumna's micro-expressions are much more subtle than Wahaj.
Some signature micro-expressions I noticed that Yumna has utilized to show how Merub is clearly affected by Murtasim and/or wants him are given below. The examples are illustrative based on what I remember and not exhaustive.
1/ The indrawn breath (equivalent to saansain atak gayee moment)
Examples: Chain scene, Kaan main ghuss jao scene, Keh bhi nahin sakta aur seh bhi nahi sakta scene, gajra scene, etc.
This is Yumna's equivalent of the Wahaj gulp and her most used micro-expression. You can see Yumna's neck muscles tense and the notch/dip in her neck gets deeper/more visible when she does this. Btw you also see this in her crying scene in the lawn after Murtasim is discharged from the hospital - this is the first time I noticed her neck acting 🤣
2/ The slow blink
Examples: Keh bhi nahin sakta aur seh bhi nahi sakta scene, meri meerub scene, gajra scene
3/ The parted lips (transitioning from pursed to parted lips OR parted to pursed lips)
Examples: Lights off scene, choodiyan scene, ishq scene
She usually goes from parted to pursed lips to signal the transition that she is back to her senses. Also other way around
4/ Eyes darting towards Murtu's lips
Examples: The scenes referenced in unicornhugs post
5/ The coy half-smile
Examples: gajra scene, kheer scene, coffee banane chalein scene
6/ The gulp (?)
Example: The lawn date (when Murtasim says mohabbat batayee nahin jatee pata chal jatee hai)
There are probably others but I can't recall now.
