ssp -- one thing I don't get is how people link maturity with appreciation. 🙄 basically anyone who says something a tad bit negative is either not a true fan or they are just being immature/trivial. 🤦
when people give such attitudes, there is no point because you cannot have a discussion or a conversation -- especially over the internet when we are all strangers.
I really don't get such attitude -- when we go to a movie and come back and tell our family members and friends, people will give a kind of critique. we liked the clothes, the songs were awful, the lyrics were off-putting, the acting was good etc etc etc.
part of growing up is realizing that people will have different opinions and some of them are going to be very different from you. we come from a culture where we love debates - just watch our news or our parliament. we are a rowdy bunch who love to do word games. 👍🏼
that is fantastic because it allows us to see an issue from multiple angles and perspectives -- very important when it comes to true solution building. it is not necessary that we all have to agree on everything -- we can always agree to disagree.
a really important skill is knowing how to agree to disagree and have conversations and discussions with different perspectives. you can't be in workplace if you don't know how to bring up your points and have these type of discussions. you have to know how to make your voice heard as well as hearing others.
not just at the office but even within a family, you need to be able to converse on all sorts of issues and be able to have those discussions and verbal battles. if you do not learn how to agree to disagree, those families can fall apart especially in the parent-adult child teething phase.
it may seem like just a drama and just a forum but we do learn a lot from each other in a platform like this and we also get to build our communication skills.
so I love our DT and our forum. I love that we all have diverse opinions and we are often frank and blunt about it. we crib about all sorts of things and we laugh about it as well. I hope that we go back to our more humourous phase again that we had a few DTs back. fingers crossed!
