Every now and then when I get seriously addicted to some itv show, I always visit IF to read people's thoughts cuz twitter is more fangirly and analysis tweets are short so I come here to read the long ones. Ever since I began watching I have noticed that this forum is just so dead. So I was compelled to post (haven't logged into IF in years so it took me multiple attempts to even retrieve my account and password). Has IF really died out and have people moved onto other social media sites? Have I started the show when people have lost interest (when the romance hasn't even started yet?) Or are Adnan and Aditi not gorgeous and immensely talented actors that are worthy of praise for every single scene? I'm used to seeing mediocre performances/actors get long threads dedicated to them even when the plot is down the dumps. Here we're nearing 100 episodes, the show is still going strong, the slow build-up is swoonworthy (old itv magic), the characters' communication is top-notch and their acting? Ah where do I even begin... I am starting to feel like I have grown old and the stuff I like nowadays is not what the new generation likes... *sigh*

I wasn't planning on watching the show initially but clips kept coming up on my twitter TL, and I was gripped by the actors (Aditi specifically, she reminded me a bit of Konkana Sen Sharma who I absolutely adore). I caught bits of Viaan's apology, his redemption scenes (which were pleasantly surprising), and then the Lonavla track after which I completely gave in. Binged the show and fell in love. That love realization and acceptance poem by Viaan in Adnan's voice is probably my "damn this guy is attractive" moment (the poetry itself was one of the most beautiful pieces of writing I've heard). I only watched a few episodes of Ishq Subhanallah back when it aired so I didn't remember much of Adnan this was my proper intro to him and well I'm a goner now. His voice is definitely his IT factor. Also the eyes. BOTH THEIR EYES. I love when eyes do the talking. Acting just elevates when you get actors who're blessed with expressive eyes or know how to use them. And how beautifully do kaviaan communicate? Like the scene today when he saved her, their expressions said a thousand words. Their "looking-at-each-other" scenes are full of feels because of their expressive eyes communicating every thought so beautifully. Beautiful beautiful romance is what this show is for me. And yes my vocab is limited to beautiful hence I don't write, but I like to read long threads about scenes like today's where their eyes did all the talking. His touch and her discomfort superseded by his genuine concern, her trust in his intentions reinforced by her thank you, and the look of longing as she drove away. Just painfully beautiful, and brilliantly performed. And side note, their chemistry is fire. But this forum is just so dead that it makes me sad. Thought I'll post something. Not good with analysis but at least I can fangirl and add to the activity here. The last few itv shows I watched had couples getting forcefully or unwillingly married after 50-60 episodes. This show has taken the old-school route with slow-burn romance and I am SO HERE FOR IT.

Oh and special shout-out to Viaan becoming a secret soul-dad to Aarav too LOL. It's adorable and I really enjoy the kid's acting. The way Aarav said "I miss you yaar" has established their bond and *fingers crossed* we're getting close to the revelation. Katha just needs to fall hard now.

This one of those show I think is that once u start u wanna catch up asap

I’ve have made 3 people watch this

i think this is natural show that you can relate to and watch with whole family( but I like to watch it alone or with my mum)

I don’t want this track to be drag so much

It’s really nice how it’s going

I think what even more is viaan n katha even tho they not talking but the action r speaking for them

to answer your question:

#1 each forum has a different style of interaction. here, much of the analysis happens in DT over the conversations.

#2 people are not necessarily posting analysis every day as the drama seems to cater to much older or more busy crowd. so when folks have time, they create those individual analysis threads on various points or different episodes

#3 the current tracks are too slow and have created a bit of disconnect. so lot of people are not checking the drama on everyday basis or don't have anything to react to.

you can browse through the 10 pages and read the different threads when you have time.

See that's the thing, DTs exist in every forum but I've never had the need to open them up because there are always enough separate analysis posts. I have been reading the discussion thread but it still feels empty. And this reminds me I originally reactivated my account to comment on an ost (need to go do it now) that has 2 comments? Omg I was appalled šŸ˜‚ like that deserves pages of appreciation! Perhaps this show isn't as popular and I've only happened to watch popular shows (some of which have been sensible ones, catering to a mature audience but had enough traffic on IF just because of the actors and hence I wonder why Adnan and Aditi aren't hyped as much, they're terrific). And when you say it caters to a much older crowd, I agree. I'm just bummed by the fact that the younger generation isn't into sensible things anymore. Or maybe I'm just saying this because now I'm here and might not have been a few years ago? šŸ˜…

Last point about the slowness, almost every itv show I have watched goes through the slow phases, but that doesn't take away from its popularity. And a story with such a strong premise getting such less attention is disappointing.

Maybe this show is just like a well kept secret that most people want to savor unto themselves nowšŸ˜†.

Discussions on IF are rarely enriching or interesting anymore. Most people are here to push agendas or promote their favorites rather than actually having meaningful discussions.

Maybe the people who liked to make analysis threads feel exhausted from putting the effort to make threads only to see the entire story gaslighted for the sake of cheap gimmicks. We now live in the era where 5 people screaming that day is night is considered gospel truth even if its bright sunshine outsidešŸ˜†.

Katha also doesn't have typical romance or scenes like usual shows which generate that frenzy of discussion and speculation from people....these days the audience has been conditioned into only reacting to shocking/outrageous things or some kind of grand romance....lol Katha is taking the slow/gradual route in every aspect of the story rather than giving people the outrage drug they have been conditioned to expectšŸ˜†.....and these days that feels like a novelty....not feeling the need to react so much to everything and letting it play out to see where it goesšŸ˜†

Hi

Here also I totally agree with you...I was an active member of swaragini forum and had friends like family there..We used to celebrate every episode there ,every member would write a fanfiction and we would be cheering for the writing..we interacted everyday after the episodes for about one year and then some misunderstandings led to division of fans and then led to fight between two fandoms and then the show was closed after few months..But we still have some interactions through Wattpad.

KATHA ... despite being one of the best i have ever watched in tv does not have an active forum..I was drawn to the show while watching going through some scenes faceboook and found it very interesting..Great direction, subtle emotions, No OTT dialogues, natural acting by the cast, even the child actor and a positive mother in law...all very rare scenarios in today's itv. Like you said I came to the forum to know if there are others who have the same opinion but to my surprise it was very quite here...still don't know why..

As to the point that this is slughish ...I feel the currently top rated tv show is still stuck at the same point where it started..The male lead has not yet decided whether he should chose his first love/ now wife or former wife/ present love.If people can tolerate this show with the same plot for more than 2 years why are they not able to appreciate Katha...atleast give time for the leads to fall in love..how can love happen so fast?

So I am also feeling very helpless and sad..why more people are not appreciating this good work? Why Aditi or Adnan not recognised for their sizzling chemistry even without a fall, lift and a lot of hate.

I read an article in TOI where they have appreciated the lead acting, costumes and even art work for giving real feeling to the Mumbai sub urban flats..I even like that they show Viaan's house as a duplex flat instead of a palatial home..Not every CEO in Mumbai can afford to own bungalows.

Let us hope for the best that the sensibilities of the tv watching audience will one day recognise this show and shower appreciation.

From what I understand this show has definitely gotten a lot of traction on social media but not on IF. This is definitely the slowest forum for a popular show. There is definitely less mobilization by members here. In other forums people post polls, write ffs and members push for each other, it’s definitely low here, no doubt about that. Simple thing like there is no place for episode highlights on written episodes on the forum - even the most unpopulated forums tend to have those.

That said, there is the mature show angle here. Other forums have the advantage of loads of teenage/young fans who sort of keep the discussion going no matter how banal and frankly superficial at times it gets. Here because it is a more mature membership, banality is sort of non existent.

it’s an excellent show, it is addressing concepts that have never been addressed before. It is far more topical and cerebral than most shows. But the audience at IF has also changed. Tbh, majority of IF itself has become more barmy and quite trite. Serious discourse is often less ā€œpopularā€. This is a microcosm of society a a whole, unfortunately society is now so polarized that people think you can be only either or…we don’t see the value in being serious AND non serious.

Oh man, IF used to be a nice place, been here since ipkknd days. And I remember a show like edkv which was subtle and slow-moving but had endless discussions and threads. You're probably right, they've fed so much crap to people that there is an overall societal conditioning going on. Sad.

I like the shade on top-rated shows LOL. Itv shows all eventually lose the plot and give in to commercial gimmicks, whereas this show is still going strong and staying true to the original pace of direction and story (the best part is that the romance hasn't even begun).

Yes I am surprised there's more on social media than there is here. But I feel overall too there are a lot of things to be praised while social media mainly just focuses on kaviaan. I expected more mature discussions here rather I see complaints about wardrobe, pace, background music lol... aesthetics are nice but they can never compensate for the plot, acting and direction. Those posts were always balanced by immense appreciation going on on the side, but that's not the case here. You're right, it's either or. I'm here for the story and that department is excelling. Anyway, you're right, the audience and their tastes have definitely changed, which is quite disheartening.
