Waise do you guys know who the writer of the show is, I am not able to find. Everyone just keeps talking about the director.

LOL oh haan woh Maa ko diya hua vachan wala angle toh already chal hi raha hai in many ways.....so Teji ko Kaikayi maan lete hain is version ka :P.....He will deffo suffer trying to manage his mom's drama....bas yeh wala Raghuvanshi doesn't worship his father like Ram did.....isliye it's a loose adaptation and waise Ram-like nahin hai😆. Not that Ram also didn't make his fair share of mistakes when the time came.....lol

Arey even I'm most curious to know who the writer for the adaptation is cuz they are definitely tweaking some things for the Indian version and I'm also curious to know who's writing the dialogues, all this poetry and all....badaa thought daal ke kar rahe hain.

I was googling to find info about the writer and found this old IV of Adnan around the time he bagged Katha.....he worked as a restaurant manager in Dubai before becoming an actor....that explains his whole hospitality wala demeanor like he's used to speaking to people very politely😆

Adnan Khan of Ishq Subhan Allah fame is back with a new show, Katha Ankahee. It is the Hindi remake of the hit Turkish series 1001 Nights, better known as Arabian Nights. He will be seen in the lead role of Viaan and would star opposite Aditi Sharma, who is in the titular role of Katha. After being brought up in Dubai, Adnan has now made Mumbai his home. The actor, who shot to fame as the lead character Mawlawi Kabir Ali Ahmed in Ishq Subhan Allah, spoke to Hindustan Times about his struggle before making it big with the show and why his new project is special for him. Excerpts:

Is your role in Katha Ankahee different from what you have done before?

Definitely, it’s very different and that’s the reason I wanted to do the show. The story as well as the character is very different from my previous shows. Playing Viaan on the show is quite a challenge. Also read: Bigg Boss 16: Shekhar Suman calls all contestants ‘fake’ in his qawwali performance

Tell us more about the plot of the show.

It is the story of love blossoming from a situation that ideally you would never see love coming out from. It’s a situation that occurs between two people. Circumstances that lead to that situation would make two people hate each other but this situation makes them come closer, but at the same time, push them away. Its kind of a conundrum. That’s the story in short.

How did you land the project?

I got a call from the makers. I auditioned for it and also did a mock shoot. I liked the story. Later, I also found out the director to be an excellent human being who keeps an eye on every little detail. It will air on Sony December 5 onwards.

You were based in Dubai. Do you shuttle between Dubai and Mumbai now?

Now I am settled in Mumbai. I was Dubai-based and did my schooling etc from there. I was born in Mumbai but grew up in Dubai. I worked there for a couple of years as a restaurant manager. Since I have been in Mumbai, I haven’t gone back.

You bagged your first major role in Ishq Subhan Allah. Did you do 400 auditions before that?

Over the course of my nine-year-long journey, I must have done over 400-600 auditions. I used to give 4-5 auditions a day and had given around 100 auditions in few months. This was in the first year itself. Ishq Subhan Allah came five years later. By that time, I had done a few smaller shows. The coordinators knew by then and pushed me in the right direction.

Tell us something about your struggle in the industry.

I definitely faced some struggle in my initial years. Nothing was happening, nobody knew me. I had to circulate my name and my face by doing cold calls. Visiting the production houses, knocking on their doors and asking, ‘Sir, fit, not fit? Can I audition? Do you have something for me?’ This was in the first two years. In the third and fourth year, it was mostly me calling on phone and reminding them in case they had something for me. By then, I had done a little bit of work.

From a writing perspective toh this has amazing scope for intense and layered scenes.....their situation itself is so unique in its sensitivity and angst....but all depends on how much writers can navigate that and create some powerful scenes out of it.

This is exactly what I am hoping for as it makes for great viewing. But as you said it really depends on how they decide to take this further, keep up with what they have done in the past or dilute the essence by taking the easy way out.

You have worded it so perfectly, Gulaal had such unique situation where only brilliant writing and execution could have made it palatable given what the story was about and they did amazing job of it.

This is what was missing in past few episodes, Katha needs to actually talk about that night , especially about the emotional impact it had on her.

Lol so I was also trying to google and couldn’t find the writer and I read an article about Adnan its almost similar but was in more detail. There is absolutely nothing about writer the only other thing that comes up is the director.

He does have ekdam professional demeanor and has a very soft approach to everything.

Yahan they have credited some kanika dua for the poetry. There are some other tags too but I honestly don't know who those people.are and if they are actually writing the show too ya bas poetry hai

Yes, off late ever since Katha-Viaan have mellowed with each other and started yeh friendship ya jo bhi woh powerful scenes thode kam ho gaye hain.....that CHARGED quality we were getting to see in scenes post the ONS and then all the subsequent drama....woh thoda dial down ho gaya hai off late in bringing in more Grewal family drama and random Teji/Ehsan drama.

Katha as a character doesn't like to hold on to her pain or grudges....that is what she told Viaan also when she agreed to take her job back...that she isn't the type of woman who wants to sit and wallow in all the atyachaars that have happened to her so they need to get past all the baggage between them....and wohi kiya Katha ne....she made a concerted effort to focus on work and baaki Viaan ki sincerity connected with her and she started to soften towards him despite herself......but now this Shamita matter has brought the original issue back front and center.....cuz Katha never wanted to resolve or talk out the issue....her approach is to just move past everything and not discuss it much. Whenever Viaan tried to explain or apologize again, she found a way to change the subject or just say something general sa to him about how people change their perspectives over time.

The baggage of that night from Katha's perspective is still too raw for her to discuss like that with Viaan I guess....pehle toh saara discussion was centered around why she did all this for Aarav....but ab agar topic aaya toh it will be about her thought process beyond a mother's desperation....what did she feel as a WOMAN going through all that that she has suppressed so much....woh baat toh koi shuru bhi kahaan se kare.....she won't share it with anyone else so easily....sirf Viaan se baat kar sakti hai as of now but she is not yet at the stage to be that candid with him about that night either.

The writers have shown us they are capable of writing really powerful convos between KV so I guess we are just looking to see when the next dose of that happens cuz it kinda tapered off after the Lonavla trip.

Thanks for the link yaar....I tried to google this Kanika Dua and Arya Sharma and literally nothing came up....random other logon ke profiles aa rahe hain.....lol itne secretive writers pehli baar dekh rahi hoon😆....koi basic bio page bhi nahin hai.

I was going to google about the writers way back but forgot about it, when my sister finished her binge watch she is like who are the writers? As it doesn’t come up in title , she thought it was Madhubala ( maybe it shows up in title) but she couldn’t find anyone with that name. 😆 So now I am like how is it possible and started looking but as you said bade mysterious se hai. 😆

Haha yes, I'm also quite cool with them wanting to stay secret. Public hote hi aa jaate hain faltu trollers to just degrade any sane discussion all around. Toh mast rahein jo bhi hain writers and bas content dhang ka likhte rahein, kaafi hai humare liye😆

Director saab seems quite sweet and chilled out from his posts.

And LOL I'd forgotten ki woh Silsila show was also Sphere waalon ka hi jiske basis pe Aditi ke mandir banaaye huye hain for being the wronged wife😆. This is like her third show with this PH....in house actor ho gayi yeh toh😆
