It is an autonomy/independence issue for sure. His response “mein tumhara shohar hoon” is very telling. If it was purely about safety, he would’ve said as such. He clearly believes he has the right to know her whereabouts and has the right to allow/restrict her because he is the husband. Sure, he personally accompanied her because of the recent threat from Malik but his expectation to know her whereabouts at all times is rooted in misogyny.

I interpret the shouhar hoon as she being under bigger threat being the begum of the haveli?

I guess one could condone his expectations in the village because the culture is different and Meerab was visiting the village for the first time but him having the same attitude at home in Hyderabad just means this guy has double standards.

Murtasim would be Prince Charming for those girls who prefer their husbands lead them (and they’re many such girls and there is nothing wrong with having such a preference) but despite all his charm and romance a real-life Meerab would not be able to adjust with a Murtasim. I think the script would win if he too comes to meet her halfway by the time the show ends. I hope his character also has growth.

no I believe he’s just talking about the general right of a shohar to know where his wife is (and that’s fine if he also acknowledged that she has a reciprocal right as a wife) but clearly it’s a one way street here because he has no response to her rebuttal
