Are you from India do you know the movie Alaipayuthey in Tami, Saathiya in Hindi. The movie came out in Tamil first by Maniratnam and it as super duper BLOCKBUSTER hit. The movie made famous elopement because parents didn't approve. Do you have any idea how many idiots ran off and got married because of this movie, there were parents begging who said we have no problem with our kids getting married but the couples did it anyways because it was romantic and exciting. We can't deny there is influence, and we can't isolate how entertainment impacts our lives. Mr. Rajinikanth still has a choke hold in South India, if he does something, there will be people who say oh Rajini did it so it is OK.
Movies by SRK had a huge impact on love, how can we forget pyar is dosti. I was in school when that happened it did influence many young minds. Solution to anything is to recognize the problem, before we didn't know how to identify toxic romance, now we do and we reject it. Kabir Singh was widely rejected by young people as healthy romance even though it was a big hit, this same movie even 10 years ago would have been held up as an ideal way for a boy to behave. We are a very theatrical culture whether it is love or hate everything is depicted in extremes, things in extremes are not healthy and we miss the subtlety of emotions. But I think we are getting away from being influenced, only because we see entertainment from around the globe not just India. Young people are more well informed, Parents are more informed, and a well educated well read well informed populace is not so easy to manipulate.
Yes I am from India but i never heard about that tamil movie or it's impact. I guess it's differs from person to person. Education, upbringing, society around you plays an important role. I just can't believe people do/try to do things which are shown in the movie without thinking
