You picked up Aamna's personality there. She is definitely an elitist and very brand conscious, a fashion critic as they say. We will definitely have some comments over the saree and makeup. I don't know what but something about Yumna screams innocence, which I rarely feel about most celebrities from this field. And she definitely knows that she's being put down for her looks on the show. She surely isn't the most intelligent person but as an actor, she is capable of picking on nerves of characters she plays. Her first out and out glamorous role and she could have done better, yes, but her looks shouldn't be the deal breaker for criticism. Meerab is a lot more likeable because of the way she's playing it.

I can already hear a lot 'cheese' from Aamna today.

That namard line is worrying, for sure, and I just hope it does not come from Meerab's mouth and does not reach Murtasim's ears.

I think that is the strength of the romance. Imagine if Sajal Aly I am blanking on names, any other young glamorous flawlessly styled actress played this role, it would have put so much more emphasis on wow look how pretty she is, ofcourse murtasim loves her because that is the first thing he sees right not her character. Every time Meerab is being bratty everyone would say ohhhh he only tolerates her because she is gorgeous now no one says that. But now the attention is on their personalities and characters, that doesn't mean Yumna isn't pretty but her style doesn't take away from the romance it elevates it. Murtasim love for her is not about wardrobe, her perfect makeup or hair, he likes her the way just as she is, and when he says she is beautiful we believe it because we see Meerab through his eyes. I think Yumna not being impeccably styled has worked in Meerab's favour and it has raised Murtasim character to being the perfect lover.

There is a difference between casting Meryl Streep and Nicole Kidman for a role, both these ladies are gorgeous, but who is the lady who gets all the attention for her looks, and who is the lady who gets all the attention for her acting. Meerab role demands an actor, not a doll. Murtasim desires in his wife character, not a show piece.

Kdrams evolved for the better for sure. They come up with more realistic and understanding male leads than the ones like boys over flowers. In earlier kdrama the jerk used to end up with the girl but now the good guys end up with the girl. The one that supports her and accepts her as she is, is the winner in kdramas. I think it started with strong woman do bong soon. The second lead had all the characteristics of the typical kdrama arrogant male lead who dominates the FL and acts all macho whereas the male lead was the one that don't get intimidated by the superhuman power of the FL. The FL at the start was in love with the second lead but eventually fell for the ML. So it completely debunked the childhood/first love troop. In most kdramas the FLs used to choose the ML simply because they had a childhood connection and he is her first love.

All the popular male leads nowadays are full of green flags.

There was over glorification of the male lead and they come up with random storylines to keep the FL powerless till the end when she is a merged soul of two of the most powerful beings in that world. I dropped it after 2-3 episodes.

Heard queen's umbrella is good. Might binge watch it when i feel like watching a kdrama sageuk. The last sageuk I saw was red sleeve and it ended up making me have a kdrama slump for almost an year. Even now i haven't got that invested in any kdrama after red sleeve.

I was into kdrama slump as well because korean dramas these days are not like old dramas they were just too good like strong woman,goblin,moon lovers ,W and so many more.
