I do not even remember most films from last decade. Except maybe Article 15, Thappad, Piku, Pink, Queen, Gangs of wasseypur, English Vinglish, Dear Zindagi.

Otherwise most films were passable or timepass or forgettable.

How about hiring legit writers as script writers? I don't mean pop writers like Chetan Bhagat or Devdutt Pattanaik. I can only remember Munshi Premchand off the top of my head. His novels have been made to films. Like Sunil Dutt-Sadhana starrer Gaban or Raaj Kumar starrer Godan.

The day the audience recognizes the writers by name they'll get some say in the film.

A lot of writers are foreign educated or cocooned/isolated and don't have any idea of life outside their own comfort zones.

Could be combination of both.

Well said. They are educated in urban or foreign tradition and often are out of touch with reality of India and Indian audience.

I've said this a few times here before

Even if a good or great plot is handed to them, they're unable to come up with a good movie with good story

I think it's the writers and directors too
