Armaan loses starry hopes on JJKN
Abrity Basu, Mumbai, November 15
Armaan Sir is not feeling too happy. And you cannot really blame him considering the way Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin has turned out. "It's really sad to see what the serial has become. The fresh theme with which we had started is just not there anymore. The entire track has gone for a toss," says Apurva Agnihotri, the actor behind Armaan's character.
The track is not the only thing that bothers Apurva. "Armaan was such an attractive and interesting character. Now he's just a moping and pining Romeo," he says. They were not even informed in advance that Jassi and Armaan wouldn't get married after all. "It came as a shock.
After all that hoopla and a special episode being planned on the wedding, it didn't happen. We weren't told about the change till the last minute," says Apurva.
Would the falling TRPs have shown a respectable rise if the marriage had taken place? "If the marriage had taken place, the serial would have ended. That would have been the perfect time to bring the curtains down on this show. People would have been left with happy memories of Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin.
Unfortunately, now the storyline is simply dragging endlessly," Apurva quickly replies. With so much to complain about, why is Apurva still sticking on with the show? "I am a very obedient and committed person," he laughs. "Leaving a show is easier said than done.
Also, we cannot complain too much as we are contract-bound and they are paying us at the end of the day. Ultimately, what is a simple serial for the viewers is actually our profession. You cannot quit just because your job isn't going according to plan. Therefore, as long as they are paying me and there is security, I see no reason to quit," says the actor.
Apurva says he is not the only one unhappy about his role in a daily soap. "This is bound to happen. There is no break for the team to come back with fresh creative ideas. If something goes on for too long, it will surely drag and will get to the people involved. There is no point blaming the makers only. It's the system that is wrong," he says. What would be the actor's solution? "The best thing is to adopt the system used abroad.
ApurvaOne should make a serial in seasons," he says. Apurva is busy writing a script for a film for which he hopes to find producers soon. "Direction is a creative process and I would love to try my hand at it," he says.
