Reading is not just intellectually nourishing, it gives you an edge in terms of cultivating empathy and contextualizing situations. Actually, there are way too many pros when it comes to reading. I don't think there's a single con.

Unfortunately, our visually-driven culture has led to reduced attention spans and this has led to poor cognitive abilities. I'm so glad my childhood happened before technology took over.

Sorry for the profound thoughts. It happens at times😆

Agreed.

I'm glad my childhood was filled with the magic, mysteries and adventures found in the world of books. Television did have its own place, but nothing could replace books for me.

Off late, I've found my way back to reading and I feel terrible about the years I lost out on because of letting technology take over me.

I can't help but feel sorry for children these days. They are so invested in their video games, and various other "informative" apps on their tablets that they will never know what they are truly missing out!

The Night Manager.

And because I have wanted to read it ever since I watched the original mini series. Unfortunately every copy I found was very expensive since it was imported. But I found a used copy at a raddhiwala for like 100 bucks and its an old edition 🥳

Before that, I got done with Night Over Water by Ken Follet. Have you read it?

I have bought quite a few chick lit/YA simple reads too and I gotta say I detest Colleen Hoover 😆

The Cosmopolitans by Anjum Hasan(fiction) and Inside Youtube's Chaotic Rise to World Domination by Mark Bergen (non-fiction). Both are highly informative and enjoyable!

I'm happy that the eldest of the kids (a girl) is as much engrossed in books as I was as a kid (am less now because too often, after some pages. I fall asleep over the book - no matter how much I would love to continue). Yet she is equally engrossed in playing games, in watching YouTubers, in creating and telling own little stories, in enjoying time with her brothers and/or friends, in discussing...she can be a motormouth or be at her own...a quite balanced girl (I hope she keeps going like that).

Her brothers liked books when too young to be allowed playing nintendo or PC games...now...well...boyyyyyzzz...but it's okay, they also still like to play outside, being with friends and to play board games 😊
